Hello Crafters! Michelle here from Michelle's Party Plan-It with a rickety Haunted House tealight display. Halloween is just around the corner but there is still time to whip up some spooky decor!
I love the latest Tim Holtz dies, and when I saw the Village Dwelling, I knew it would be perfect for Halloween! So, I decided to create a run down Haunted House, you know the kind you might find in a horror movie? I love horror movies so this is right up my (dark) alley!
To start, you will need the Sizzix Big Shot, Village Dwelling Bigz Die, Woodlands Thinlits, Ghosts Bigz Die, Extended Cutting Pads, Extended Premium Crease Pad, Cutting Pads, Magnetic Platform, White Mat Board, card stock, ink, scissors and hot glue.
Start by creating a sandwich. The sandwich for the Bigz XL die is as follows: Extended Cutting Pad, Die, Mat Board and the Extended Premium Crease Pad. Once you made the sandwich, pass it through the big shot 2-3 times.
Next, die cut the ghost by placing mat board on top of the Ghosts Bigz Die then sandwiching it between two cutting pads. Then pass it through the Big Shot.
To age the house and give it a rugged run down look, apply several layers of ink to all the pieces of the house. Next, assemble the house per the instructions found HERE.
I recommend using hot glue to secure the pieces together. Don't worry too much about lining up all the seams, the idea is to have a rugged, spooky and abandoned Haunted House, not a perfect little chateau!
Next, for added detail, die cut three trees using the magnetic platform and Woodlands Thinlits. The sandwich for the Thinlits is: Magnetic Platform, Cutting Pad, card stock, Thinlits then a second Cutting Pad. Then pass it through the Big Shot. Next, glue the trees to the back of the House platform as a backdrop.
Cut one of the ghosts from the Ghosts die cut with scissors and glue it inside the chimney.
Once the house is assembled, place a battery operated tealight in the house and place it on some fake grass or moss.
As a finishing touch, write R.I.P. on the extra door included in the Die set and glue it to the fake moss for a spooky graveyard. Could this be the gravestone of the once living inhabitant?
And that's it! You have a creaky abandoned house, just like the kind you might encounter at the end of a long dark lonely road! It makes the perfect little spooky nightlight!
Enter at your own risk...if you DARE!
