Hello, Sizzix fans! Vivian here today to share with you a project which celebrates our furry family members. If you follow me anywhere on the web, then you know I'm completely smitten with my pets, those of my friends, and actually, those of strangers, too! Our pets bring so much love into my every day, and cultivate in me, just by their being, a true appreciation of simple pleasures. I can't imagine life without them. This winter, I found some awesome doggie themed cookie cutters so that I can gift my friends with homemade dog treats for their furry babies!
To package my homemade biscuits in such a way that my dog-loving friends will swoon with delight, I used products from Lori Whitlock's "Made with Love" Collection with Sizzix and some adorable doggie themed patterned papers from Echo Park.
Aren't they cute? And the perfect size for an handful of homemade doggie biscuits!
To start, I reached for a fabulous Bigz type Bag, Favor die, which is especially awesome because you can die-cut 2 full bags from just one 12 x 12 sheet of patterned paper. This is really helpful when you only have a few sheets of adorable paw print patterned paper!
This die also presses score lines into your paper when you send it through your Big Shot. So, it is ideal to substitute a Premium Crease Pad in place of your second cutting pad, placing the Crease Pad on the cutting side of your die as shown in the photograph of my Sizzix Sandwich above.
In addition to the cute owl die that you owl enthusiasts will want, there are several ever-useful frame shaped dies in the Fox & Owl Sentiments Framelits w/ Stamps Set. This pairing of dies from the set will make die-cuts that fit perfectly on the face of this bag.
I like to use the Magnetic Platform with the wafer thin dies as it keeps everything in place without any extra effort.
The Magnetic Platform becomes especially useful when you want to center a stamped image or sentiment within the borders of your Framelit die as I've done above.
This stamp is one of several playful phrases included in the Birthday Sentiments Framelits w. Stamps Set. I inked it up with a nice fast-drying chalk ink in my favorite brown hue.
You will want to press on those score lines with a bone folder as you begin to form your bag.
Then add adhesive where the edges come together.
I hope you enjoyed my project today and that you'll consider gifts for the beloved pets. The packaging will please the owner, but the treats inside are what the pooches will be after! Our yellow lab, Lucy, can't wait to get hers!
