¿Cómo se llama?

Project #12163

Practice English and Spanish vocabulary with these Llama flash cards.

Adhesive, Bone folder or scoring tool, Cardstock or construction paper, Crayons or markers, Magazines, Pencil, Photos, Ruler, Scissors, Sticker letters

The teacher will die-cut the materials for student use prior to the lesson.
Making the box:

  1. Cut an 8 1/4" x 8 1/4" square of cardstock for the bottom of the box and an 8 3/8" x 8 3/8" square of cardstock for the top of the box. (The box can be made any size to fit the desired size of the flash cards.)
  2. With a pencil, mark 1" down on every corner. Place a ruler on the marks, and score on the 1" line on all four sides of the box edges with a bone folder or scoring tool.
  3. Cut 1" down on the scoring lines (where they intersect) on the top edge of the box and 1" down on the scoring lines on the opposite side of the box. This will make tabs (Figure A).
  4. Place adhesive on each of the tabs on the four corners. Fold the tabs in and press.
  5. Repeat this process for the box top.
  6. Make a belly band to hold the box closed. Cut a strip of contrasting paper long enough to encircle the box when closed.
  7. Adhere the title to a smaller piece of paper, and attach the title to the belly band.
  8. Place the belly band around the box, and secure the ends with adhesive (Figure B).

Making the flash cards:

  1. Cut multiple 8" x 8" squares for the flash cards from white cardstock or construction paper.
  2. Die-cut the Llama and blanket from construction paper.
  3. Decorate the blanket with crayons or markers, and adhere the decorated blanket to the Llama (Figure C).
  4. Adhere the Llama to the white square, and use sticker letters or print the title on the flashcard.
  5. Die-cut shapes or cut shapes from magazines to attach to the flash cards for each vocabulary word. Label each flash card with Spanish on one side and English on the flip side (Figure D).
  6. Place the decorated flash cards in the box for student use (Main Photo).
  7. Students can work alone with the flash cards or practice their Spanish and English vocabularies with another student.
