Assembling the Quilt Top:
- Fold the background fabric in half and press. Fold in half again to make a square and press. Unfold fabric. The pressed folds will intersect at the center of the square to help you arrange the center motif.
- To create the center ribbon work motif, lightly draw a design on the center of the background and heat fuse the bias 1/2" Strips following the design. When fusing, it helps to slightly pull the bias strip while following with an iron to create the curves.
- Fuse the 1/2" Strips to the background make the inside borders.
- Arrange the Celtic Borders on all four sides and heat fuse in place.
- Stitch around shapes as desired.
Finishing:
- Layer the backing, batting and quilt top. Quilt by hand or machine, as desired.
- Sew binding strips together to form one long strip. Fold wrong sides together, lengthwise, and press.
- With a 1/4" seam, sew the raw edges of the binding to the edges of the right side of the quilt. Turn the folded edge of the binding to the back side of the quilt and stitch in place by hand, mitering the corners.
