Notes:

  • All seam allowances are 1/4" unless noted.
  • Fat 1/4 = approximately 18" x 21"

Piecing the Quilt:

  1. To assemble Block 1, see Diagram 1. Press.
  2. To assemble Block 2, see Diagram 2. Press.
  3. To assemble Block 3, see Diagram 3. Press.
  4. To assemble Block 4, see Diagram 4. Press.
  5. To make the sashing, begin by sewing one 2 1/2" aqua Square to one 2 1/2" x 8 1/2" yellow Rectangle. Repeat and end the row with a 2 1/2" aqua Square. This forms rows 1, 3, and 5.
  6. Row 2: Sew one 2 1/2" x 8 1/2" yellow Rectangle to block 1, then sew another 2 1/2" x 8 1/2" yellow Rectangle to repeat to block 2, and finish with a 2 1/2" x 8 1/2" yellow Rectangle.
  7. Row 4: Sew one 2 1/2" x 8 1/2" yellow Rectangle to block 3, then sew another 2 1/2" x 8 1/2" yellow Rectangle to repeat to block 4, and finish with a 2 1/2" x 8 1/2" yellow Rectangle.
  8. Sew horizontal rows together.

Finishing:

  1. Layer the backing, batting and quilt top. Quilt by hand or machine, as desired.
  2. Sew binding strips together to form one long strip. Fold wrong sides together, lengthwise, and press.
  3. With a 1/4" seam, sew the raw edges of the binding to the edges of the right side of the quilt. Turn the folded edge of the binding to the back side of the quilt and stitch in place by hand, mitering the corners.
