1/8 yd Dark turquoise batik Cut (2) 1 1/2" wide Strips x 9"
Cut (2) 1 1/2" wide Strips x 34"

22" x 45" Batting
1/2 yd Lightweight fusible adhesive

Notes:

  • Finished Size: 17" x 40"
  • All seam allowances are 1/4" unless noted.
  • * = Adhere fusible adhesive to back of fabric before die-cutting the shapes.
  • WOF = width of fabric

Assembling the Project:

  1. Place the Seashells, Starfish and Circles on the background. Heat fuse in place with an iron as shown in photo.
  2. Straight stitch along the edge of the shapes.
  3. Sew the 1 1/2" x 9" dark turquoise batik Strips along the short sides of the background.
  4. Sew the 1 /12" x 34" dark turquoise batik Strips along the long sides of the background.
  5. Sew the 3 1/2" x 11" light turquoise batik Strips along the short sides of the background.
  6. Sew the 3 1/2" x 40" light turquoise batik Strips along the long sides of the background.

Finishing:

  1. Layer the backing, batting and quilt top. Quilt by hand or machine, as desired.
  2. Sew binding strips together to form one long strip. Fold wrong sides together lengthwise and press.
  3. With a 1/4" seam, sew the raw edges of the binding to the edges of the right side of the quilt. Turn the folded edge of the binding to the back side of the quilt and stitch in place by hand, mitering the corners.
