Notes:

  • Finished Size: 10 1/2" x 18"
  • All seam allowances are 1/4" unless noted.
  • Fat 1/4 = approximately 18" x 22"
  • * = Adhere fusible adhesive to back of fabric before cutting the shapes.
  • WOF = width of fabric

Piecing the Quilt Top:

  1. Place the two words on the 4 1/2" x 10" white print background, using the black fabric word to create a shadow behind the blue floral fabric word. When satisfied with the arrangement, heat fuse the words in place with an iron.
  2. Cut two orange 1 1/2" wide Strips to measure 4 1/2" in length. Sew the 1 1/2" borders to each side of the quilt center.
  3. Measure the quilt center from side to side. Cut two orange 1 1/2" wide Strips to the length of that measurement. Sew the 1 1/2" borders to the top and bottom of the quilt center.
  4. Measure the quilt center from top to bottom, and cut the blue floral 3 1/2" wide Strips to the length of that measurement. Sew the 3 1/2" borders to each side of the quilt center.
  5. Measure the quilt center from side to side. Cut two blue floral 2 1/2" wide Strips to the length of that measurement. Sew the 2 1/2" borders to the top and bottom of the quilt center.
  6. Place the fusible adhesive-backed flowers on the quilt. Heat fuse in place with an iron.
  7. Layer the wool flower centers on the flowers, and stitch in place with embroidery floss.

Finishing:

  1. Layer the backing, batting and quilt top. Quilt by hand or machine as desired.
  2. Sew binding Strips together to form one long Strip. Fold wrong sides together lengthwise, and press.
  3. With a 1/4" seam, sew the raw edges of the binding to the edges of the right side of the quilt. Turn the folded edge of the binding to the back side of the quilt, and stitch in place by hand, mitering the corners.
