Serve up a sample of country style! This homespun version uses classic calicos, but you can pick your favorite fabrics to create this unique piece of home décor.

Notes:

  • Finished Size: 22" x 22"
  • All seam allowances are 1/4" unless noted.
  • Fat 1/4 = approximately 18" x 22"
  • WOF = width of fabric

Piecing the Quilt Top:

  1. To assemble block 1, see Diagram 1. Press.
  2. To assemble block 2, see Diagram 2. Press.
  3. To assemble block 3, see Diagram 3. Press.
  4. To assemble block 4, see Diagram 4. Press.
  5. To make sashing, begin by sewing one 2 1/2" blue Square to one 2 1/2" x 8 1/2" brown Rectangle. Repeat, and end the row with one 2 1/2" blue Square. This forms rows 1, 3 and 5.
  6. To make row 2, sew one 2 1/2" x 8 1/2" brown Rectangle to block 1, and then sew another 2 1/2" x 8 1/2" brown Rectangle to block 2, and finish with a 2 1/2" x 8 1/2" brown Rectangle.
  7. To make row 4, sew one 2 1/2" x 8 1/2" Brown rectangle to block 3, and then sew another 2 1/2" x 8 1/2" brown Rectangle to block 4. Finish with a 2 1/2" x 8 1/2" brown Rectangle.
  8. Sew the horizontal rows together.

Finishing:

  1. Layer the backing, batting and quilt top. Quilt by hand or machine, as desired.
  2. Sew binding Strips together to form one long Strip. Fold wrong sides together lengthwise, and press.
  3. With a 1/4" seam, sew the raw edges of the binding to the edges of the right side of the quilt. Turn the folded edge of the binding to the back side of the quilt, and stitch in place by hand, mitering the corners.
