Project #18465
18465

There go the flamingos! Complete this whimsical wonder by adding a gift card to complete the wow factor that comes straight from the Making Happy Happen by Jen Long.

Other Supplies:

  • Cardstock (Blue, Dark Pink, Light Pink, Pink Glitter, White Glitter, Yellow)
  • Patterned Paper
  • Double-Sided Tape or Tape Runner
  • Ink Blending Tool or Foam Sponge
  • Ink Pads (Aqua, Pink)
  • Liquid Adhesive
  • Mini Stapler
  • Rhinestones (Small)
  • Sequins
  • Paper Trimmer

  1. Die-cut out of patterned paper the card base from the Card, Flamingo Fold-a-Long set. Fold along the crease lines to create the card base.
  2. Die-cut out of blue cardstock the card base again from the Card, Flamingo Fold-a-Long set. Cut off the flamingos. Then cut off the two outermost panels along their crease lines. With an ink blending tool, edge each blue panel with aqua ink to create dimension. Adhere the two blue panels to their corresponding panels on the back side of the patterned card base with double-sided tape. (Note: Once the card is folded properly, the blue panels will act as the background behind the flamingos.)
  3. Die-cut out of a different patterned paper two flamingos from the same card base die by placing the paper only under the flamingos. Trim off the excess edges until you are left with two separate flamingos. Adhere the two flamingos over the flamingos on the card base with liquid adhesive.
  4. Die-cut out of light pink cardstock two sets of flamingo legs and two large beaks from the Card, Flamingo Fold-a-Long set. With an ink blending tool, lightly add pink ink to the edges of the legs and beaks to create dimension. Adhere all the pieces to their corresponding shapes on the card base with liquid adhesive.
  5. Die-cut out of pink glitter cardstock two flamingo wings and two small beak tips from the Card, Flamingo Fold-a-Long set. Adhere the flamingo wings to the center of the flamingo bodies on the card base with liquid adhesive. Adhere the beak tips over the tips of the light pink beaks on the card base with liquid adhesive.
  6. Die-cut out of another patterned paper two sets of double palm leaves from the Card, Flamingo Fold-a-Long set. Die-cut out of blue cardstock four single palm leaves from the same set. With an ink blending tool, add a small amount of aqua ink to the edges of the leaf sets to create dimension. Adhere the double palm leaves to their corresponding leaves on the card base with liquid adhesive. Layer two sets of the blue single palm leaves directly next to the double palm leaves with liquid adhesive. Overlap the blue leaves so that they are facing different directions to create a dimensional effect.
  7. To create eyes on the flamingos, adhere with liquid adhesive a single rhinestone at the edge of each flamingo’s large beak.
  8. Die-cut out of yellow cardstock the card base from the Card, Flamingo Fold-a-Long set. Cut off the flamingos so that you are left only with the center panel of the card base. Cut off the bottom 2" of the center panel. Fold the panel along the crease lines. With an ink blending tool, add pink ink to the edges of the yellow cardstock, and layer and adhere the yellow cardstock to the bottom center of the card base with double-sided tape.
  9. Die-cut out of dark pink cardstock two ovals from the Card, Flamingo Fold-a-Long set. Cut one of the ovals in half. Layer the half oval over the bottom half of the full oval, and attach the two ovals together by using a mini stapler at the bottom and once on each side where the two ovals meet. This will create a gift card holder.
  10. Die-cut out of white glitter cardstock the Happy Birthday phrase from the Phrases, Happy & Pineapple set. Center and adhere the phrase to the bottom of the half oval with liquid adhesive.
  11. Die-cut out of light pink cardstock two large flowers from the Phrases, Happy & Pineapple set. Additionally, die-cut out of blue cardstock two medium flowers from the same set. With an ink blending tool, add pink ink to the edges of the pink flowers and aqua ink to the edges of the blue flowers to create dimension. Center and adhere the blue flowers to the top of the pink flowers with liquid adhesive. Adhere a single sequin to the center of each flower bundle with liquid adhesive. Adhere one flower bundle to each side of the phrase on the oval with liquid adhesive.
  12. Insert the oval in the tabs in the center of the card.
  13. Place a gift card in the oval gift card holder.
