Sizzix Tutorial | Baked with Love Card by Jan Hobbins

Sizzix Tutorial | Baked with Love Card by Jan Hobbins

Hello everyone!  Jan here today with a Baked with Love Card.  Lori Whitlock's new Apron Box XL Bigz die makes the cutest apron shaped gift box, but I decided to use this apron shape for my card.  I wanted this thank you card to have a baking theme and the  apron, along with the Baked with Love Framelits Die w/Stamps set, also by Lori Whitlock was perfect.

First die-cut the apron shape, front pocket, and scalloped pocket trim.  My Sizzix sandwich  for this was the Extended Cutting Pad, Bigz XL Apron Die, then Extended Cutting Pad or Extended Crease Pad.  Anytime you have a die with fold or crease lines, the Extended Crease Pad creates subtle fold lines, rather than cutting through.  I inked all my edges after the shapes were die-cut.

I die-cut various flowers using Sizzix's Tim Holtz Tiny Tattered Florals Thinlits set and patterned paper.  Then, shape the floral die-cuts using the included quilling tool.  I usually glue the end piece on the bottom of the flower with a hot glue gun, it is fast and holds the flower permanently.  My Sizzix Sandwich for die-cutting the flowers was my Standard Magnetic Platform, Precision Base Plate or a Standard Cutting Pad, paper, Thinlits dies (cutting side down), and a Standard Cutting Pad.

I stamped my images from the Lori Whitlock Baked With Love Set on patterned paper.

After stamping the images, place the coordinating Thinlits dies on the images to be die cut.  The Sizzix sandwich is the same for these as what I used for the Tiny Tattered Floral Thinlits.  After die-cutting, ink the edges.  I also coloured in the red heart with a red marker.

My "thank you" is die-cut from the Sizzix Tim Holtz Script Celebration Words Thinlits die set and patterned paper.  The Sizzix Sandwich is Magnetic Platform, Precision Base Plate, paper, thinlits die, and Standard Cutting Pad.

Once I had all my pieces die-cut, I was ready to assemble my card.  The 5 x 7 card base was matted on the front, then my apron adhered to that.  Ribbon was thread through the holes on my apron.  The pocket was adhered to the front, then the stamped images inserted.  My flowers were added, along with the mixmaster stamped image and words.  This card would be great with a gift of an apron box full of baked goods!

Hope you enjoyed this tutorial and thanks for stopping by!

Jan
