Be The Star of Card Making: Oh Happy Day Birthday Card

OhHappyDayCard#1@JanHobbins

Hi everyone, Jan here today on the blog.  I have created this fun card with matching envelope from Stephanie Barnard's newest Sizzix collection.  I love these mini A2 card Framelits sets that Stephanie has created.

I created my card base using Stephanie's Oh Happy Day Mini Step-Ups Framelit's  14pc. set and black cardstock.  My Sizzix sandwich was; Magnetic Platform, or Sizzix Extended Multi-Purpose Platform Tab 2, Cutting Pad, paper, die facing down, second Cutting Pad.  This card base die includes all the crease lines, so once it is die-cut, just fold along the lines.

I die-cut this card front panel from patterned paper, using the same Sizzix sandwich as the base.

To further enhance the panel, either outline the edge with a coloured marker, or as I have here; adhere to a piece of cardstock and cut along the edge with a craft knife and ruler slightly larger than the edge (about 1/16).  I die-cut two more pieces from this set, the oh happy day phrase, and the hello rectangle. These each have two pieces and when cut out with two different papers, add more dimension to your card.

I'm lovin' stars right now, so I couldn't resist this Stars Triplits 13 pce. set from Stephanie Barnard.  Just think of all the combinations!  I die-cut quite a few in different colours and patterns and layered them. The Sizzix Sandwich is the same as I used for the card base; Magnetic Platform, or Sizzix Extended Multi-Purpose Platform Tab 2, Cutting Pad, paper, die facing down, second Cutting Pad.  Some of the stars were layered with thin foam dots.

Once you have all your pieces die-cut and assembled, adhere to your card base.

The envelope for my card was die-cut from Stephanie's Mini Envelope Framelits Plus Die 16 pce. set.  This is a larger plus die that requires the Big Shot Plus (uses dies up to 8 1/2" wide) or Big Shot Pro machine (uses dies up to 12" wide).  I used the Big Shot Pro and my sandwich was; Tray, Big Shot Pro Adapter Pad, Big Shot Pro Solo Platform, Big Shot Pro Solo Shim, Big Shot Pro Solo Thin Die Adapter, Cutting pad, Paper, Die cutting side down, Cutting pad.  The die cutting sandwich for framelits is Big Shot Plus platform, Adapter Pad A, Big Shot Plus Cutting Pad paper, framelits die, Big Shot Plus Cutting Pad (or Big Shot Plus Premium Crease Pad if there are creases on the dies).  I also die-cut the scalloped label and the heart that is included in this set.

I assembled my envelope and adhered the die-cut embellishments.

Here's another look at my card and envelope set.  Those cute star decorations in the background are die-cut from Sizzix's Tim Holtz 3-D Star Bright Bigz XL die.

Hope you enjoyed my project and thanks for stopping by!
