Hi everyone! Genevive here once again for a fun and sunshiny Sizzix tutorial. I can't get enough of my goddaugter, Maria Charlize Gwen.
I love her for being so cute, for being so hard to please. Her standards must be really high haha! At this age, she seldom trusts just anyone and I am ever so lucky to be one of those few people she trusts. And when my son Miguel talks to her, she laughs! This photo was taken when we went out for a picnic one Sunday.
I started my layout by choosing the best taken photo of Gwen, the one where she has her happy smile while looking at the camera. It connotes "sunshine" so I choose this bright yellow paper as the background.
I always want texture in my scrapbook pages so what better way to achieve that than by using Texture Fades by Tim Holtz (see, Tim Holtz products can be designed to make pretty projects too!). I embossed a white cardstock and to coordinate the colors with the papers and embellishments I had, I rubbed two shades of chalk inks on the embossed papers.
I want more textures! What about some machine stitching? I just followed the patterns in the paper, layered my embossed piece on a pink cardstock to mat and add more texture and stitched away!
Then I diecut the flowers and leaves using the Flower Layers & Leaves die.
I find the floral patterned paper too bright and I don't want it to overshadow Gwen's photo so I decided to use vellum and layer it on top to mute the bright colors.
The leaves look more interesting with stitching right?
After all prepping all the details, I arranged and glued everything down and added ephemeras here and there, and finished it off by adding white ink splatters. Loved what I saw. I hope you do too!
Till next time :)
