Hi all! Jeanne here today with a masculine birthday card idea using dies from the Tim Holtz Alterations Collection. Guy cards are sometimes hard to make but these new dies make it easy! This could be easily adapted to make it a Father's Day card too.
I started by die cutting the Bigz Dapper in both black and white cardstock (keep all the paper bits!) with my Big Shot Machine. The recommended die cutting sandwich for Bigz dies is (bottom up) Cutting Pad, Bigz die, paper, Cutting Pad.
I die cut Sizzix Thinlits Die Set 3PK - Mixed Media #3 using the recommended Sizzix die cutting sandwich for Thinlits and Framelits dies: Sizzix Magnetic Platform (or the Precision Base Plate), Sizzix Cutting Pad, paper, die (cutting side down), Sizzix Cutting Pads. Run this sandwich through your Big Shot machine. Use your Sizzix Die Brush & Foam Pad to get all of the paper bits from your die. This will become the stencil for my card.
Cut your rectangle frame using Sizzix Thinlits Die Set Stitched Rectangles. Add a piece of white cardstock slightly smaller than the die cut frame to the back of the panel.
Create a mask using the center section of a spare die cut from Sizzix Bigz Dapper. I trimmed the face area into a head shape and then secured it with painters tape. The only areas that need to stay white are the face area and the shirt for this project. Sponge inks (I used a Crumb Cake and Bermuda Bay) randomly over stencil. Sponge brown ink around the die cut shape.
I created a splashy pattern on watercolor paper with Color Burst Ultramarine Blue and Sepia.
Die cut from watercolored paper by cutting sections of the pattern you like and placing it over the tie and hat area of 661182 Sizzix Bigz Dapper. Add in all of the die cut pieces. Mat the panel with Bermuda Bay and Basic Black cardstock.
Die cut the numbers (Sizzix Thinlits Die Set 38PK - Stencil Numbers) from the watercolor paper and add to panel.
Stamp your sentiment in Bermuda Bay (Stampers Anonymous Simple Sayings). I used the MISTI tool from My Sweet Petunia for this because I am stamping after using a few layers and wanted to make sure I could stamp over in the same place in case I needed to.
Finishing touches: Attach panel to white card back and add some doodles with a white gel pen.
Hope you enjoyed my project! Have a great day!
