I am going to show you how I created this little thank-you gift using these dies.
First I made my basket using patterned paper and the Berry Basket Bigz die. Because there are crease lines in this die cut, I used instead of two acrylic plates in my Sizzix sandwich, one acrylic plate and one crease pad. For the basket, you will need four sides, one base, and four trims cut out.
Once you have your sides cut out, adhere the bottom tabs to the basket base. On each side there is one tab, which is adhered to the side beside it. When your basket is completed, adhere the trims to the top of the basket sides.
There's also a little label included that can go on the outside of the basket. I cut out a piece of chipboard, covered it with adhesive backed metal and die-cut the label.
Using the Lori Whitlock Sweet Dots Textured Impressions Folder, I then embossed my label.
I applied black paint to the metal embossed label and then wiped off the excess with a paper towel, leaving the paint just in the low areas. Repeat this with another colour (I used Evergreen Bough Distress Paint) and finally again with Antique Linen, but leave more of this on. I die cut two small flowers and the little tag with Thinlit dies from the Sweet Strawberry set shown below. The "love it" is a sticker. Adhere this to your basket front.
Instead of cutting out my strawberries in paper, I chose a thin acrylic.
You will want an acrylic that is thin enough to crease.
Using my Magnetic Platform and two acrylic plates, I die cut three strawberries. When assembling my acrylic strawberries, I used a thin strip of Sook-Wang tape on the tab. This held the acrylic quite well, and wasn't too visible.
I die cut three sets of leaves for each strawberry from patterned paper. I machine stitched the three sets together along the center of each leaf. I also die cut a small flower for each of the leaf clusters using a brad to attach the flower, leaves and the acrylic strawberry sections. There are very good PDF instructions on the Sizzix site for assembling this die cut. I filled the strawberry with my treats before attaching the last section with the brad.
I also included a small tag with my basket of strawberries. I used Lori Whitlock's Textured Impressions Embossed Gift Tag Thinlit set. These are beautiful tags that you have a choice of three different embossing folders to use.
I used a white paint dabber to highlight the raised areas on the inside tag and turquoise paint on the edge of the tag. The bird was die cut with brown paper and embossed also. To finish it off, I used twine for the bow. Before I filled my basket with the strawberries, I die cut quite a few of the flourish that was included in this Sweet Strawberry Thinlits set. I used old book paper for this and placeed this inside the basket for filler.
This is a great for little thank you gift and those strawberries look so yummy filled with sweets!
Hope you enjoyed my tutorial!
