Hello there fellow Sizzix fans, Mou Saha here from My Life in Collage blog! Today, I bring you a tutorial on creating a mixed media style catch-all pocket using the Sizzix ScoreBoards XL Die - Flower Pocket, Sizzix Bigz Die - Flower, Pansy and Sizzix Bigz Die - Leaves, Spring from Eileen Hull's Power To The Flowers Collection for Sizzix. So, let's get started!
These are the dies I'll be using today.
To diecut the Flower Pocket, create the following Sizzix Sandwich: on Sizzix Accessory Cutting Pad- Extended, lay the Sizzix ScoreBoards XL Die - Flower Pocket, blade side up. Place a Sizzix Little Sizzles 6" x 13" Mat Board Cream Sheet on the die and cover with a Sizzix Accessory - Premium Crease Pad, Extended. Now, pass the whole sandwich through the Sizzix Big Shot machine.
Apply adhesive to the creased tabs and assemble the Flower Pocket. Use rubber bands to hold the pieces together in place till the adhesive dries.
Once the Flower Pocket is dry, remove the rubber bands and color it with acrylic paints.
Stamp around the Flower Pocket to add interest. Ink the edges and let dry. Apply a coat of Crackle Medium to create a distressed yet cool finish.
Next, die-cut the petals for the Pansy and Spring Leaves. Create the following Sizzix Sandwich: on a Sizzix Accessory Standard Cutting Pad, lay the Sizzix Bigz Die - Flower, Pansy blade-side up. Place a scrap Cream Scoreboard on the die and cover with another Standard Cutting Pad. Pass the whole sandwich through the Sizzix Big Shot machine. Repeat for more petals and to die-cut the leaves using the same Sandwich with the Sizzix Bigz Die - Leaves, Spring.
Layer the Pansy petals together lining up the central hole. Insert a brad to hold the petals together.
Add more colors to the flower and curl up the ends gently with your fingers. Attach a couple of leaves and the flower to the Flower Pocket as shown.
Now your cute little catch-all Flower Pocket is ready!
Hope you enjoyed today's tutorial and would give these fun dies a try.
