Hey everyone, it's Hilary here today with a sweet Easter treat tutorial. We often think Easter baskets for Easter but why not try some ultra-sweet cupcakes with cute little bunny picks and wrappers for the centerpiece of your Easter table this year?
I have been waiting for cupcake wrappers such as these Cupcake Wrappers, Thinlits die set by Where Women Cook, and I honestly could not have received them at a better time. How fun was this project for me to create, and I just adore the bunny picks, which are the perfect embellishment for these sweet treats.
I also added little gold glittered bow ties, using the Bow-Tied Sizzlits Decorative Strip Die by Tim Holtz for the finishing touch.
For the bunny pick, I used the Mini Bunny, Mover's & Shapers die, also by Tim Holtz.
These fun little project were so completely easy to create, let me show you how I created them.
Using your Sizzix Big Shot, or Big Shot Plus, (as I have), lay your magnetic platform down onto the die cutter, then add a cutting pad on top, followed by the pattern paper you are using, then lay the Cupcake Wrapper thinlits die on top, then finally add another cutting pad on top. Run this sandwich through your Big Shot. The wrapper comes fully assembled, it really can't be easier. There is a slit on one end, and when ready, you simply wrap the wrapper around and secure the one end through the slit.
For the bunny pick, using the accompanying circular background thinlit and the same cutting sandwich, cut your background circles. I cut two for each pick. One cardstock and one pattern paper, (to make them thicker), and then I machine stitched around the circles twice. Next die cut your bunny. Since this is a mover & shaper die, you will need the Base Tray. Your cutting sandwich is as follows:
Position the bunny and adhere him to the background circle. Then hot glue a small cottontail to complete him. Run a small bead of hot glue to the back of the circle and adhere your lollipop stick.
To compete the pick, adhere a small glittered bow tie underneath the bunny medallion as shown.
The Bow-Tied die is a decorative sizzlit strip die by Tim Holtz. For this cutting sandwich, you will need the multipurpose platform. Lay the platform down, opening to Tab 1, and lay a cutting pad down on top, lay the decorative strip die down, face up, and your glittered cardstock on top, followed by another cutting pad. Run this sandwich through your Big Shot and assemble.
Adhere bunny picks after you've frosted your cupcakes and add wrappers as show, for a truly lovely Vintage inspired Easter treat.
