Hello everyone! Genevive here for another Sizzix Tutorial. This time I will be showcasing the very fun Modern Surrealist dies by Marisa Pawelko and the really cute SophistiCut machine to make a layout for my friend Jimnee. She doesn't want me to use her photo for my projects but I think she can't do anything about it now. haha.
Jimnee is a beautiful person. She loves all things pretty, bags, fashion.... thus, I chose these papers from Authentique.
My plan was to make a layout with flowers and glitters and I will use the envelope dies to make a couple of little bags as embellishments.
I started with the "bag" making first. What makes cutting small things doubly fun is when you are using SophistiCut, a machine that's smaller than Bigshot and looks like a real bag! (I remember when I posted a photo of this machine in Instagram, many of my friends were gushing of its cuteness!)
I opened the machine by pressing the bottom part of what looks like the bag's pocket. Next I made the Sizzix sandwich which is a layer of cutting pad + the die + the paper + another cutting pad. Then I ran this sandwich through the machine.
When the cutting's done, I folded and glued down the flaps to make the envelopes. Next I added brads to make it look like small purses and inked the edges.
Now for the title, I used the SophistiCut machine again to cut the word Fabulous using the Sizzix Originals die from Marisa Pawelko's Modern Surrealist collection. But this time, I layered patterned paper and chipboard so that the word was a little chunkier. Once cut, I applied embossing ink and clear UTEE (Ultra Thick Embossing Enamel). Using the heating tool I melted the UTEE and added the Distress Glitter. I heated it up again to allow the glitter to sift into the UTEE. I love that the glitter is not too bright and shiny. Just nice.
A shout-out to my friend Jimnee... I hope you like it! :)
