Father's Day Mixed Media Card: A Quick Make!

Father's Day Mixed Media Card: A Quick Make!

Hi all! Tami Mayberry from Create It Simply here with you today to share another quick and easy project you can make with your Sizzix dies. Father’s Day is just around the corner and the latest dies from Tim Holtz are the perfect tool for making a quick and easy masculine card.

For today’s card I chose 3 of the new dies from the Tim Holtz line. I really like all three of these dies due to the all-occasion versatility and the fact that with them you can add words and texture to virtually any project.

The three die sets I chose to use were: Sizzix Bigz XL Alphabet Die - Typo Upper, Sizzix Bigz XL Alphabet Die - Typo Lower and Sizzix Thinlits Die Set 3PK - Mixed Media #3.

I began by cutting a panel slightly smaller than my card front from kraft cardstock. I then used the Mixed Media #3 brick wall die to cut a pattern from the top left section.  The magnetic platform is perfect for this because it keeps the die in just the right position while die-cutting.

To cut the panel using the Thinlits dies, I used the Magnetic Platform according to the instructions printed right on the platform. I love the way the Sizzix platforms have these diagrams on them so it's easy to understand and remember.

Now all I had to do was adhere it to the card front, as shown above, and I had the perfect card base for practically any occasion. Naturally, since this is a Father’s Day card, I used the alphabet dies dies to spell the word “Dad”.

For the small banner I stamped “You’re the Best” onto kraft cardstock and punched it out with the Tim Holtz Sizzix Paper Punch - Banner, Large. I then attached it to the card and added some epoxy dots.  My original plan was to use my mini stapler to keep it more masculine...but I quickly realized one of my children had been playing with my stapler and I had no more staples so Plan B it was ;)

As you can see, this is a super easy card that is quick to make. Use the simple formula of a die-cut panel on a card base for a starting point.  You can then customize it for any occasion by changing the sentiment or colors. If you want more of a distressed look you can also ink the edges and sand the panel or letters. The possibilities are endless!!

Thanks for letting me share!
