Hi! Kylie here from Made by a Princess! Are you a last minute birthday present shopper? Me too! However, using the new designs from Where Women Cook I created some cute goody bags that are perfect for my little last minute gift problem!
I consider myself a pretty organized person but for some reason I always wait til the last minute to pull a birthday gift together. Like stop at the store on the way to the party kind of last minute. I decided it was time to do something about this so I bought a bunch of gift cards, some little treats, and a package of small canvas bags. I made a set of little bags that would cover just about any party that pops up. This was so easy! Why didn't I do this sooner?! All you need to get started is a package of small canvas bags, iron on vinyl (I used glitter), and the new Where Women Cook Thinlits.
Using the sandwich method (Magnetic Platform, Watermelon Cutting Pad, iron on vinyl, tiara from the Thinlits Cupcake Wrappers Set, Thinlits Hooray, or Thinlits Birthday Wishes, Watermelon Cutting Pad), roll your sandwich through the Big Shot Machine until the whole thing has come through on the other side. I took the plastic sheet off and then cut the vinyl because it won't cut through with the plastic.
Place the vinyl glitter side up and your Thinlit ridged side down.
Trim as necessary. For this design I placed it back in the die to make sure the pieces lined up properly before setting the plastic sheet on top of it.
Now comes the fun part...ironing on your design! Place your vinyl design on the canvas wherever you want. The plastic sheet is really helpful because it is sticky and will help it stay in place. I like to put a towel over the design and hold it for a couple of seconds and then remove the plastic sheet and continue ironing with a towel over the vinyl. Ironing vinyl is not difficult but a couple things to keep in mind: set heat on low/medium and iron over a towel. Press firmly around the whole area where your design is but don't get it too hot or the vinyl will melt.
You can whip up a few bags in no time! I think these would be perfect party goody bags too and something your guests could actually use again.
I just love how sparkly glitter vinyl is!
I hope you enjoy my little goody bag tutorial! It is so easy and there are endless possibilities for decorating them. Have fun & Happy Crafting!
