Hello everyone, I hope your New Year's been good so far. I am Aida and with 2014, I wanted to do a Me layout about what makes me grateful.
The layout is 8.5 ins x 11 ins and I used the lovely Tim Holtz Decor strip Spring Greenery as well as the Alterations Bigz Die Window and Window Box for the frame under the photo. The window frame was painted with Distress Paints Salty Sea and Frayed Burlap. After that several pieces of greenery were die cut with the decor strip and inked with a mixture of Distress Inks Wild Honey, Squeezed Lemonade and Mowed Lawn. On the main panel of the layout, I added texture using mica flakes which were lightly dabbed with Distress Paint Frayed Burlap to take out some of the sheen making it look more natural.
The word Grateful was die cut using TimHoltz's Vintage Market XL Bigz alphabet die. It was painted with Distress Paint Spiced Marmalade, when dry, lightly painted with Antique Linen. Touches of Distress Ink Pine Needles on the edges added definition.
These are the die-cut flowers inked with Distress Squeezed Lemonade and Spiced Marmalade, the tips with Pine Needles, and a quick brush of Tattered Angel's Glimmer Glam Chandelier. In the centers, I used squares of pattern paper tied in the middle with twine.
The New Year is a wonderful time to set new directions and for resolutions, or putting down old habits that have stopped working in your life and clearing out mental and emotional cobwebs. Have a great 2014 !!

Just lovely, Aida!
Lovely, but am not able to tell how you created the wooden board background. Can you elaborate a bit more on that? Beautiful page!
Thank you Diana. The background is paper by Kaiser Craft, and I glued mica flakes to it. Sorry I did not elaborate more. Aida
Aida - thank you for responding so quickly. I love your posts. Always so lovely.
Aida, beautiful page. I also want to know about the background, is it paper or is it real wood? The background really makes the page interesting. Great use of the window die and the florals.
Thank you for sharing. Happy New Year!

Thank you Jacquelene ! It's Kaiser Craft paper, with Mica flakes glued down for texture. I hope you are able to get the dies soon, they are lovely. Aida
Thank you for your response Aida. I am thinking of doing the background with pieces of real wood, paint stir sticks, wooden rulers, or yard sticks. Gluing it to a canvas. Thank you for the inspiration!
