I wasn't sure if I wanted to know what was lurking inside Karen's eerie Halloween tri-fold card -
On the front of the card, I used the Bigz Chandelier, by Rachael Bright, die cut from black matboard and embellished with red Stickles flames and silver teardrop jewels. Some spidery webbing drapes around the "fright fixture" (see what I did there?) and a chain at the top completes it. Behind the chandelier is a piece of patterned paper, with heavily-inked corners, a pre-made title and a foldover tab to open the card. A bejeweled spider hangs out on the tab, daring you to open!
A magnet is hidden inside the foldover tab as well as below a paper circle on the underneath portion of the card, keeping the card tightly closed until you're ready to open. And then, when opened, it becomes this:
Here's a close-up of the pumpkin:
The pumpkin himself is die cut from patterned paper and the pieces sprayed, front and back, with Ginger Peach Luminarte spray, from Creative Imaginations. Once dry, I stamped the pieces with a script stamp using black ink and then assembled the pumpkin. Rather than use the face pieces that are included on the die, I used buttons for the eyes and wove a piece of ribbon through the pumpkin as a mouth.
Now let's look at the bat:
The bat was die cut from black cardstock and then I sprayed the pieces, front and back, with Pewter Luminarte spray, from Creative Imaginations. I love the way the Luminarte sprays add a random pattern plus a lovely sparkle, even on dark black. Once again, I used buttons for the eyes rather than the eye pieces included on the die.
The Pop-up Bat and Pumpkin dies can be used long after Halloween for a variety of themes and styles by changing out the accessories. At their core, they are each just a round pop-up, so be thinking of ornaments, globes, apples, animal bodies, snowmen, Easter bunnies, flowers, gift card/photo holders and more!
