Sizzix Inspiration | Happy Birthday Card by Mou Saha

Sizzix Inspiration | Happy Birthday Card by Mou Saha

Hi everyone, Mou here with a Happy Birthday Card! Today I'm going to share with you how to create this Birthday card using dies and embossing folders from the Thinking of You collection by Tim Holtz. Let's get started.

Fold an 8.5" x 5.5" cardstock in half to make a 4.25" x 5.5" card.

Trim another cardstock to 5.25" x 4". Place it inside the Tiny Stars Texture Fades Embossing Folder. Place the folder between two Sizzix Accessory Standard Cutting Pads on the embossing surface of the Sizzix Accessory Extended Multipurpose Platform. Pass this Sizzix Sandwich through the Sizzix Big Shot machine to emboss the cardstock. The embossing tab of the Extended Multipurpose Platform allows you to emboss using the Big Shot Machine without needing a separate embossing machine. Attach the embossed piece to the center of the card. Rub some gold paint on the embossed surface to accentuate the design.

Next, you begin embellishing the card. For this card, I used Tim Holtz's Sizzix Bigz Die Watering Can, Sizzix Thinlits dies Handwritten Celebrate, Celebration Words: Block and Tiny Tattered Florals. Pick papers that will coordinate well with the card you are working on. I used up several scraps from my stash for this.

To diecut the Watering Can, place patterned paper on the Watering Can Bigz die blade side up and put them between two Sizzix Accessory Standard Cutting Padsand pass the Sizzix Sandwich through the Sizzix Big Shot machine. Outline the diecut with a pen and attach it to the card.

To diecut the Tiny Tattered Florals and sentiments, create a Sizzix Sandwich by laying a Sizzix Accessory Standard Cutting Pad over the Sizzix Accessory Magnetic Platform for Wafer-thin Dies. Lay out your patterned papers on the Standard Cutting Pad and place the Thinlits dies blade side down on them and cover with the other Standard Cutting Pad. When the Sizzix Sandwich is ready,  pass it through the Sizzix Big Shot machine to diecut all the embellishments you want to use.

Cut the word 'Birthday' into a block and attach to the card below the Watering Can. Attach the word 'happy' above 'Birthday'.

To make the dimensional Tiny Tattered Florals, use the Quilling tool. Insert the outer end of the Tiny Tattered Florals diecut into the tip of the Quilling tool and roll toward the center following the arc of the spiral. Remove from the Quilling tool, arrange the petals and add a dab of hot glue to hold it together. Attach the flowers to the card near the Watering Can.

Staple at the top left and bottom right corners of the card for a little more texture.
