Oh, Christmas... it's my most favourite decorating time of the year.
You can put gold on anything, and suddenly it's festive.
This artwork was created in almost a very short amount of time, but I think that it has an amazing impact. Two Bigz dies and the fabulous Sizzix Paper Leather are the foundations for this wonderful little bit of whimsy in my living room.
This paper is designed to feel like leather, but works with any of the Sizzix dies. I'm already in love with it.
To add some dimension to these wings, I used clear embossing ink and gold embossing powder to create a golden wing.
After I did a once-over on these with the heat gun, I turned to the other die I was working with the Handwritten Wish.
I cut the "wish" from gold Tim Holtz Kraft-Kore metallic paper. It's important to remember that the die works as a mirror image. So don't be like me and cut it out with the wrong side out.
I used glue dots to attach the wings. It was after a couple of tries that I realized that the littlest wings looked best without any embossing.
The background of the art is Paper Leather Brown. Again... I'm in love.
This simple artwork is held in a thrifted metal frame. I love the simplicity that this piece has - yet it's still luxe with the gold embossing and metallic sentiment.
It's the first piece of Christmas decor I have out...
... and it's making me want to haul boxes up the stairs and deck the halls completely!
