Hello everyone, Mou Saha here today with a Father's Day card tutorial using Tim Holtz dies! And guess what? I'll also share with you how you can create your own stamps using these dies. So, let's get started.
Cut some craft foam to fit on the Sizzix Bigz XL Alphabet Die - Typo Upper. Create the following Sizzix sandwich: Lay the Sizzix Bigz XL Alphabet Die - Typo Upper, blade-side up on a Sizzix Accessory Extended Cutting Pad. Place the foam sheet on the Sizzix Bigz XL Alphabet Die - Typo Upper and cover with another Extended Cutting Pad. Pass the whole sandwich through the Sizzix Big Shot machine. Carefully remove the foam letter die cuts and backings from the surface of the die.
You'll be amazed at how easily the Sizzix Big Shot machine and dies work together to cut through the thick foam in JUST ONE PASS!
Repeat the exact same procedure with Sizzix Bigz XL Alphabet Die - Typo Lower.
Here are the die-cut foam letters.
Cut a couple of blocks of foam. Layer them together with waterproof adhesive to create a handle for the stamp you'll create next. Wait till the adhesive is completely dry.
Spell out your chosen word backwards like a mirror image in order to get the correct image when stamped. Attach to the above foam block. Let dry.
This stamp will become the sentiment for your card. Just imagine the possibilities here! You can create your own monograms, words, phrases, scrapbook titles, everyday greetings and more.
To diecut the Sizzix Bigz Die - Gadget Gears #2, create the following Sizzix sandwich: Lay kraft cardstock on the blade-side of the Sizzix Bigz Die - Gadget Gears #2 die. Place them between a pair of Sizzix Accessory Standard Cutting Pads and pass through the Sizzix Big Shot machine.
Paint the gears.
Repeat the same sandwich as above with the Sizzix Bigz Die - Dapper to die-cut the first layer for your card.
Fold a cream cardstock in half to make the card base. Lay the Dapper layer on the card front and trace with pencil. Fill in the cut-out spaces with black ink or paint.
Attach the gears to the card and machine stitch all around.
Trim off the parts of the gears sticking out.
At this point, you can stamp the sentiment and attach to the card and call it finished. Or, if you are like me, take it to the next level!
Paint the card with acrylic paints to add colors and details. Stamp the sentiment and cut it out. Attach to the card. Trim off any excess to finish.
Hope you enjoyed today's tutorial and would try these fun dies out yourself!
