Hi there! It's Laura here with a fun tutorial for making some adorable mason jar gift tags. Mason jars are extremely popular these days (one look on Pinterest will confirm that!), and these cute little tags that are so easy to make are sure to brighten up someone's day!
I used the Mason Jar Bigz die that is one of my favorites, mainly because I have an undying love for mason jars, but also because this die also comes with a free embossing folder that gives added dimension and depth to the mason jar.
To cut the paper jar, I made a "Sizzix sandwich" by layering a cutting pad, the die face up, my patterned paper, and then the other cutting pad on the top (top cutting pad isn't shown in the picture so that you could see the rest of the sandwich).
I ran this all through the Big Shot, and ended up with my mason jar tag base. The patterned paper that I used was from the Farmers Market collection by We R Memory Keepers. This line goes perfectly with the mason jar die.
Next came the fun part- embossing the jar! I made another sandwich, this time with the Extended Multipurpose Platform at the bottom with the top tab open, then a cutting pad, then the embossing folder with the mason jar I had already cut centered inside, with the other cutting pad on top.
I ran this through my Big Shot, and ended up with a perfectly embossed paper jar. Love it!
Next it was time to embellish the tag.
I die cut the two thin lines and extra piece that are part of the mason jar die to go on the top of the jar. I glued them right over the embossing, which made it really easy to know where to glue. On one of my tags I used a sticker to decorate the jar that came from the Farmers Market line that says "You Are Sweet Like Honey."
For the other tag, I used the new Lori Whitlock Sweet Strawberry Thinlits set that is another new favorite! There are 18 dies that come in the set, so you really get your money's worth! I die cut a red strawberry and a green top, and then glued them both onto the middle of my mason jar tag.
Next I die cut the little "Sweet" tag that comes with the set, but instead of using the tag, I used the cut out letters that spelled out the word sweet, and glued them around the bottom of the strawberry.
Next I used my Crop-A-Dile to punch a hole in the top middle of each tag.
I filled two bags with brightly colored chocolate candy in clear bags...
... wrapped some Baker's Twine around the top and through the hole in the tag, and then tied it with a small bow.
Easy, right? And who wouldn't love to receive some chocolate from a friend or family member, especially when it's packaged up so cute?!
