Mini Album DIY: Perfect For Your Instant Photos!

Mini Album Fun: Perfect For Your Instant Photos!

Hello, Sizzix friends!  Vivian here today to share with you a chunky mini album (the chunkier the better, right?) that I've crafted using new dies from Echo Park's newest collection with Sizzix.  And it really is MINI!  So, during the holidays, I picked up an Instax camera, and I must confess after using it for awhile that it is really liberating to just shoot a photo and not worry about lighting, resolution, to immediately have a photo in hand that is ready to scrap.  Sometimes with downloading, editing, printing, etc., we end up not scrapping our photos at all and they just sit on the hard drive.  Well, at least that's how it goes for me.  These instant miniature photos have a character all their own that is really hard not to adore.

Great news for those of you who shoot with an Instax camera or who plan to get one - the Gift Card Holder #2 die die-cuts perfectly sized sleeves for these miniature photographs!

In one pass through your Big Shot, this die also provides a mat and journaling card to accompany your photo!

As this is a Bigz XL die, you also get the floral die-cut that's shown above...

As well as a narrow band die-cut.  I used both of these elements throughout my mini album.

While you can and should insert your mats and journaling cards in your sleeves, you can also pin them on top and behind, adding more photos, notes and memorabilia and to make your mini extra chunky!  What I can't get over is that the nuts and bolts of this mini were created with just ONE die!

The Sizzix Sandwich for this die is simple - just place your die and cardstock between two cutting pads and send it through your Big Shot.  While a Premium Crease Pad is recommended in place of one cutting pad, I found that when using cardstock, sticking with the standard Cutting Pads, Extended gave me a cleaner cut and nice score lines.  I used this basic sandwich for all the die-cuts to follow.

To assemble the sleeve, just fold on the score lines with your bone folder, and adhere to close your sleeve.

This new collection with Echo Park is indeed timely as Valentine's Day approaches.  One of the Bigz type dies included in this release, Love Silhouette, makes both male and female silhouette die-cuts...

And two heart shapes - you can see the large one in the photo above and two of the smaller ones on another page that are peaking up from behind.

I have one more die to share with you today - if you need labels, Love Labels is the die for you.  You get the circular tag shown above, the nameplate which you can see in the background, 2 banner shapes and a folder file tab.  I used the banner die-cuts as tabs to grab when pulling photos and journaling cards out of their sleeves.  Since this die is also a Bigz, you can cut so much with it - chipboard, corrugate, foam, fabric, leather, the list goes one - great for folks who love variations in texture.

I hope you enjoyed my project today!  For more inspirations from me, please visit me at my personal home on the web - contadinak.
