Hey, y'all! Bethany here today from Pitter and Glink to share a fun Mother's Day craft that even the kiddos can make! Many moms are huge fans of flowers, but unfortunately, flowers don't stay beautiful forever. This Mother's Day you can make mom a bouquet that will last forever using tissue paper and some of the brand new dies from Brenda Walton's Favorite Things Collection.
To make your own "ever-pink" bouquet, you'll need your Sizzix BIGkick and Brenda Walton's brand new Large Poppy Thinlits Die Set and Frames & Embellishments Thinlits Die Set. A full list of supplies can be found at the end of the post.
To begin making lovely flowers for your bouquet, use your Sizzix BIGkick to cut tissue paper flower petals. Place the petal from the Large Poppy Thinlits Die Set on top of a Standard Size Cutting Pad. Place tissue paper on top of the die, cover with another Standard Size Cutting Pad, place on top of the Extended Multipurpose Platform, and roll through your BIGkick. Repeat as many times as necessary to get enough petals to make a full flower. (I used about eleven petals for each of my flowers.) Once you have enough petals, repeat the same process using the fringe-like flower stamen die and yellow paper. Repeat once more using the leaf die and green paper.
Once all your flower parts are cut, it's time to assemble the flower. Select one of the yellow stamens and, using hot glue, attach it to a length of floral wire or a pipe cleaner. Roll the stamen around the pipe cleaner and use hot glue to secure it.
Next it's time to add your petals. Simply glue the petals around the pipe cleaner using hot glue. You can use one color petal or alternate colors like I did. Be sure to overlap your petals for a more realistic look.
Form your flowers by opening the outer petals. Place closed fingers inside of the middle of the flowers and then slowly open your fingers to open the inner petals. Then add leaves to the flowers using hot glue.
To create a tag for your flower bouquet, use the Frames & Embellishments Thinlits Die Set to cut a paper tag, rose and leaf. Place paper on top of the Thinlits and sandwich that between a pair of Standard Size Cutting Pads. Place the Sizzix sandwich on top of the Extended Multipurpose Platform and roll through your BIGkick. Glue the tag pieces together using a glue stick.
All that's left to completing your everlasting bouquet is finding a pretty vase to hold the flowers. I love inexpensive vintage milk glass vases that can often be found at thrift stores.
Arrange your flowers in the vase and tie the beautiful tag to the vase so there's no doubt who you made this thoughtful gift.
Mom will love her bouquet that she can display all year long! And what I love about this project is that even little kids can create these beautiful flowers. What mother or grandmother wouldn't love receiving a beautiful, handmade gift from her children or grandchildren?!
Thanks for hanging out with me today for this Sizzix project inspiration!
