Operation Write Home

Welcome Operation Write Home blog hoppers!  The Sizzix team is so excited to be participating in the Operation Write Home Make 'em Laugh Blog Hop.  If you are starting with us, be sure to click on the link at the bottom of our post to hop on to Lawn Fawn Stamps.  If you get lost along the way, head back to the OPW Stars and Stamps blog for a master list of participants.

Sizzix is proud to support our nation’s deployed heroes through Operation Write Home®! This organization has sent over 1.5 million cards overseas so our service members can keep in touch with their loved ones while they’re away. That’s a lot of cards! We want to invite you to join in this amazing service and send in your most beautiful cards to be used by our nation’s most amazing heroes. Visit http://operationwritehome.org for the details and be sure to check out the Mailroom section for all the important guidelines.

To follow along with the theme of the hop, four of our designers  joined in the challenge to Make 'em Laugh with fun and whimsical cards.  And what better than to elicit a fun laugh from a card than to include a fun surprise popping up from inside your card?  Our designers added fun pop up elements using the Karen Burniston Zig Zag or Circle Scallop 3D Pop Up Dies to each of their cards.

Team member Gretchen Schmidt combined Lawn Fawn stamps along the Zig Zag Pop Up Die to create a fun all occasion card that is sure to put a smile on the recipient's face!  Gretchen is share a few more details on her blog: http://gscrapbooks.blogspot.com/2012/04/just-wanted-you-to-know-card-for.html

Design team member Jeanne Streiff created a fun card that combined an assortment of different die cuts along with the Zig Zag Pop Up to create a laugh out loud birthday card.  Be sure to visit her blog to see how created her fish from dies that are very un-fishy!  http://inkypaws.blogs.splitcoaststampers.com/2012/04/14/birthday-cod-pop-up/

Design team member Tiffany Johnson had me squealing out loud when I saw her cute little piggy bacon themed card!  Tiffany combined stamps from Lawn Fawn with the Scallop Circle Pop Up die.  Tiffany grew up as an Army Brat and has some special thoughts to share on her blog about the importance of the work of Operation Write Home.  Take a moment to visit her blog to read more: http://iheartartblog.com/2012/04/14/operation-write-home-make-em-laugh/

Design team member Shelly Hickox used the Circle Scallop Pop Up die along with several Tim Holtz Alterations dies and mixed vintage style Artistic Outpost stamped images with bright colored card stock and pattern paper to create a fun circus themed get well card.  You can read more details on Shelly's blog: http://shellyhickox.blogspot.com/2012/04/operation-write-home.html.

Rounding up (ha ha!) our collection of Make 'em Laugh cards is a card by design team member Jan Hobbins.  Jan used the Zig Zag Pop Up die to bring life to her super cute little lassoing cowboy.  You can read more details about Jan's card on her blog: http://janhobbins.blogspot.com/2012/04/make-em-laugh.html
