Hello everyone! Genevive here from Thoughtful Crafts with a project requested by my friend for her son. She wanted a small prayer/ personalized scrapbook journal where she can add photographs and personal prayers.
It's a very simple project which you can do with your child, using the Sizzix Bigshot Plus machine, Sizzix Thinlits Plus Die Set 53PK - Wood If I Could Alphabet and Sizzix Textured Impressions Plus Embossing Folder - Field of Diamonds. Here are the simple steps:
First I gathered the cardstocks in different colors and cut it in 6X6". You can make the book as thin or as thick as you want. So you decide how many pages you want to cut.
I then decided which among the colors will be the cover pages, because I wanted to add texture to it by doing the next step...
To make these textured cover, I simply placed the cardstock inside the embossing folder, layered the Sizzix "sandwich" in this order: Sizzix Big Shot Plus Standard Platform, Sizzix Big Shot Plus Standard Cutting Pad, embossing folder with paper inside, second cutting pad. Roll the sandwich through the machine to have these beautiful texture in an instant!
Now it's time to bind the journal.
To add more interesting detail, I made reinforcements by punching small circles, and punch holes in it.
I then glued it to the cover as shown in the photo above.
After arranging the pages, and binding it with jump rings, the journal is now ready for the embellishments and the main embellishment for this journal is the name of the owner --- "Japheth". For some reason, personalising things with our name makes special. A lot more special than any store-bought stuff.
I love that Sizzix thinlits can actually cut even thick foams! To do this, simply make the Sizzix "sandwich" again: Sizzix Big Shot Plus Standard Platform, Sizzix Big Shot Plus Standard Cutting Pad, thinlits alphabet dies, second cutting pad. Roll the sandwich through the machine and you'll have the foam alphabets perfectly cut for you in seconds!
See that? The cut is so clean and perfect. Your friends won't believe you actually made this from home :)
To complete the whole project, I added some of my favourite ingredients: washi tapes, wood chips, buttons and dewdrops. It's simple because I wanted the textured effect and the foam alphabet to be the main attraction. Hope you like it!
See you again soon!
