Hey, y'all! Bethany here today from Pitter & Glink to share a fun Sizzix project tutorial. Being a "planner girl" is hugely popular now, and in today's tutorial, I'm showing you how to use some of the new Sizzix dies from Stephanie Ackerman to create several cute planner accessories.
To create your own planner accessories, you'll need your Sizzix BIGkick and three new die sets from Stephanie Ackerman: Sizzix Bigz Die - Flower #3, Framelits Die Set - Circles & Icons, Flower & House, and Thinlits Die Set - Circle Words: Faith, Create, Brave & Joy. You'll also need shrink plastic, card stock, and several other supplies that you can find listed at the bottom of the post.
First, we're going to create a large flower planner clip. To begin, cut a piece of shrink plastic the size of the Bigz Flower #3 Die. Place the shrink plastic on top of the die, sandwich that between two Standard Size Cutting Pads and roll through your Sizzix BIGkick.
Next, select the parts of the flower that you'd like to use for your clip and add some color to them. I painted my pieces with acrylic paint, but you can also color the pieces with colored pencils or use a paint pen. Once the pieces are painted, bake them according to the shrink plastic package directions.
Once the flower pieces are cooled, you may want to seal the painted side with a clear sealant or Mod Podge. Then it's time to assemble the clip. Use a strong adhesive like E6000 to attach the flower pieces together. Then use hot glue to attach a paper clip to the back of the flower and cover with a small piece of felt.
If you'd like to add a bit of detail to the flower, you can do so with a paint marker.
Next, we're going to create a couple of small planner clips. First, using the stamps from the Circles & Icons, Flower & House Framelits Die Set, an acrylic block, and ink, stamp a house and flower on card stock. Use the Framelit dies to cut out the stamped images. Frame the images with the matching dies, sandwich them between two Standard Size Cutting Pads, place on the Extended Multipurpose Platform, and roll through your Sizzix BIGkick. Make sure to cut two of each image that you plan to use on a clip.
Next, color in the images. I used Distress Crayons. I simply scribbled the crayons on a page protector and used a water brush to pick up some of the color and apply it to my stamped images. Once the pieces dry, you can laminate them for extra durability.
To finish the clips, put a dab of hot glue on the back of one of the die cuts and attach a paperclip to the glue. Cover with the matching die cut so that you have a double-sided clip.
Last, we're going to create paper cut outs for our planners. Place the Circle Words Thinlits on a Standard Size Cutting Pad, cover with patterned paper and another Standard Size Cutting Pad. Place that sandwich onto the Extended Multipurpose Platform and roll through your Sizzix BIGkick.
Use the stamps from the Circles & Icons, Flower & House Framelits Die Set to add some character to your plain planner layout. Use markers or crayons to add color to the stamped images, and use glue to attach the paper die cuts you created above to your planner as well.
After completing these quick mini projects, you'll have a super cute planner layout.
The clips are the perfect "planner girl" accessory!
I love that with the multitude of Sizzix dies, I can pretty much create any planner clip my heart desires to match any planner layout I can dream up, and you can too!
Thanks for hanging out with me today for this Sizzix project tutorial. Happy planning!
