Say Hello With This Detailed Butterfly Card!

Hi everyone!  Jan here today with a card using a few of the new Tim Holtz dies.  I love using butterfly dies, so many different looks can be achieved just by using different materials when die-cutting.  This Tim Holt Detailed Butterfly set is twice as much fun, as there are two different solid butterflies, both with a second matching detailed butterfly die.  Whether you use the solid one alone, or as a set with the detailed one on top, there are lots of possibilities!

I used Sizzix's Paper Leather Sheets when die-cutting my Detailed Butterfles Thinlits out.  I wanted to use different mediums and these papers will retain their shape after using a variety of products.  They can be embossed, inked, stitched, painted, distressed, washed, they can take it all.  I cut two squares slightly larger than my dies.  For the one that was going to be my solid back die-cut, I used Tim Holtz Distress Crayons in a variety of colours.  After applying, blend with your finger or a water pen.  The detailed butterfly die-cut paper  was inked with various Distress ink colours.  Once these were dry, I die-cut them out using my Big Shot  and the Sizzix sandwich was; Sizzix Magnetic Platform , Standard Cutting Pad , leather sheet, Thinlits die, and Cutting Pad.

After die-cutting the detailed butterfly out, I applied clear embossing ink, then clear embossing powder.  I used Utee for an extra glossy finish, but a regular clear embossing powder would work also.

I also used this new Tim Holtz Wildflower Thinlits die on my card.  There are seven dies in this set, each one so intricate and beautiful.  I cut out various ones from my patterned paper.  Some of them were lightly sprayed with Ranger's Tarnished Brass Mica Spray.

Once I had my die-cuts finished and ready, I adhered them to my matted patterned paper.

The flowers were adhered in a row, then ribbon adhered on top across the card.  A rub on word was applied above the flowers.  The matted card front was adhered to a cardstock card base.

Here's another look at my card.  I have a feeling these two new sets are going to be well used!  Thanks for stopping by,

Jan
