Sizzix Events | 1950's Real Sock Hop Party at Global Headquarters

In celebration of Jen Long's 1950's Sizzix collection local DIY bloggers were invited to dress up in 50's attire and join us here at Ellison Global Headquarters for a Sock Hop.

The Empty Room

This was our classroom before the event began.  All our Big Shots were in a row, ready for some creativity to take a hold of them!

The Full 50s Table

Need 1950's party decor ideas? This table was decked out using projects displaying Jen's line. A few of the dies used in the above projects include the Retro Sunglasses, Vintage Car & Radio and the Rock 'n Roll Sundae.

Gee Thats Swell Candy Bag Toppers

The bloggers were provided these 'swell' candy bags filled with taffy. The bag toppers were made using the Bag Topper from the Where Women Cook collection. They were embossed using the Retro 1950's 'Beaded Bliss' embossing folder and were decorated with 'Gee That's Swell' from the Gee, That's Swell Kitchen Thinlits die set.

Black Car

Two classically classic cars were parked outside. It was a great photo opportunity for both Jen and our guests!

Minty Green Car

Era appropriate sea foam green.

Michelle at the Root Beer Table

A root reer tasting table was erected to quench the thirst of those participating in our Sock Hop. Dad's and Berghoff Root Beer were served as well as A.J. Stephen and Sioux City Sarsaparilla. This root beer sign was made using the eclips2 machine. For a sign this size, a 12 x 24" mat was required!

Burgers Made By Read Hands

Delicious, gourmet burgers were served by Burger Monster.

Soda Fountain Vignette

This beautiful Vignette was designed to look like a real soda fountain counter. It was featured in the Sizzix booth at CHA Winter when the 1950's collection was first shown.

Projects from the Soda Fountain

Let's zoom in for you to see just how adorably the counter was decorated!

Real records were used in the decorating of this vignette.

The Retro Camera Card

Once our attendees had the chance to mingle, eat, drink and be merry it was time for a little crafting! This card was very simple to assemble.

If you haven't had the chance to check out other ways to make this card yourself, check out the Pretty Pink Camera Card inspiration by Laura Russell and the Retro Camera Card tutorial by Mou Saha.

The Gang

Many special thanks to all the ladies who made it out to celebrate with us!

The Lady Herself

And thanks to the lovely lady Jen Long for whose designs we had reason to celebrate in such style!
