Hi everybody! It's Melissa Phillips. I love decorating and creating for fall. It's my most favorite time of year, how about you? Sizzix has the most wonderful selection of Fall products to help bring a little autumn into your home and into your paper-crafting. I've created an autumn gift ensemble consisting of a handmade card and twine pumpkin.
My card began with some texture I pulled from the Tim Holtz Textured Leaves Embossing Folder set. To emboss using Sizzix embossing folders in your Big Shot machine, open your Multipurpose Platform to Tab 1, put down one cutting pad, place your embossing folder with chosen paper inside the closed folder and top it off with the second cutting pad. Send that Sizzix sandwich through your machine. After embossing my tan paper, I brought out the leaf images by rubbing on some Ranger Distress Ink ink Vintage Photo. I then started layering on my embellishments and die cuts, first starting with leaves cut from patterned paper using the Tim Holtz Tattered Leaves Sizzix Bigz die. To cut using Bigz dies in all you need to do is put your die with the patterned paper facing the cutting side of the die and put it between a pair of cutting pads. Roll that sandwich through your Big Shot machine. I love leaves with character and personality and cutting them from different patterns of paper is so much fun. It's a great way to bring in color this time of year. Next I added in a die cut Botanical Vine flourish Originals die cut from chipboard and then painted with acrylic paint, sanded, and coated with glitter. To cut Originals dies you would use the same Sizzix sandwich as that of Bigz dies mentioned above.
Lastly I added in a few smaller die cut leaves, cut from gold paper using the Tim Holtz Autumn Gatherings Sizzix Decorative Strip, and topped with a die cut Tim Holtz Paper Rosette. Sizzix Decorative Strips are super easy to cut with. On your Multipurpose Platform open to tab 1 lay down a cutting pad, put your die face up with the patterned paper down on top of it and then your second cutting pad. You can use the Extended Cutting Pads or the Decorative Strip Cutting Pads as your cutting surface. All that was left was to add in a few embellishments such as trim, enamel dots, a berry, and chipboard sticker, along with my sentiment to welcome in fall.
My twine pumpkin uses the very same dies to embellish the top. The Tattered Leaves die for my patterned paper and vintage trim leaves, the Botanical Vine die for my glittery, chipboard flourish, and then tiny leaves die cut with the Autumn Gatherings die
Such a quick and easy treat to whip up for yourself or someone special.
Thank you so much for visiting!
