Hi there! It's Laura here, with some glittery gold Sizzix Inspiration for you to ring in the new year! Featured in this project is the Arrows Card Front Thinlits die from the Me & You Jen Long Sizzix collection.
When I think of New Years Eve I think of all things sparkly and gold, so I decided to apply that to a happy New Year's card for a friend. I love how it turned out!
The new Jen Long dies were perfect for this card. I started out by die cutting the gold card front with the Arrows Card Front Thinlits die. To do this I made my Sizzix sandwich with a Magnetic Platform on the bottom, a Standard Cutting Pad, some gold glitter paper right side up, the Arrows Card die cutting side down, and the other standard cutting pad on the top. I rolled it all through my Big Shot, and ended up with a gorgeous card front… so easy!
This die is very intricate, so I used a paper piercer to poke the small cut pieces out. Next I folded and cut a piece of white card stock to fit the card front, then glued on the glitter arrow front.
Since I wanted my card to be for new years, I altered the arrow base a bit. I cut a few pieces out here and there, and then added some fun elements from the Calendar Months Thinlits die. This set is such a great deal- you get 54 dies that are perfect for layering on layouts, tags, cards, and more! I die cut the letters "2015" and three different sizes of stars from the , then die cut a few sparkly hearts from the Fancy Base with Layering Shapes Thinlits die set (another great deal with 22 dies in the set). I die cut all of these additional elements in the same gold glitter paper because I wanted the whole card to flow and to keep it simple.
It was fun deciding where to add all of the additional elements. This is where you can get creative, since there is no right or wrong way to do this!
By the time I was finished, I had a gorgeous shimmery card that was definitely worthy of all of the shimmer and glamour of New Year's Eve!
