Sizzix Inspiration | Hello Little Birdie Card by Monika Baptista

Hello, Friends! It’s Monika here from Life With Lovebugs. Today's project is a cheerful card that I made to brighten up a friend's day. Even though most of communicate through text messages and email, I still love to receive cards in the mail from friends and family. Just a simple card to say "Hi" or "I'm thinking about you" would be such a nice gesture for those you love.

For this project I used a few of the new dies from  doodlebug design inc. As you probably have come to realize, I love the Framelits and stamp sets, so I couldn't resist trying out these pieces!

I wanted the little bird on the front to be yellow, but I didn't want to use a plain piece of cardstock. I used my ink pad and stamped a piece of white cardstock to make a design so that my birdie would be unique.

I then used my Magnetic Platform and my NEW colored Cutting Pads to die cut my pieces. These cutting pads come in three colors: mint, grape and watermelon. The cutting pads shown above are mint, and ever since I started using the colored cutting pads I have not lost them on my crazy craft table even once!

The background of the card uses the Sizzix Textured Impressions Embossing Folder Tiny Flowers. After embossing a piece of green cardstock, I gently rubbed a darker green ink pad over the design trying to just ink the flowers. If you get ink outside of the flowers, that's okay too. It doesn't have to be exact!

After die cutting all the pieces I assembled the card using a yellow striped cupcake liner for the top and attached a piece of raffia through punched holes to add a bow. Both the raffia and the cupcake liner came the dollar bin at a craft store. You can find some great items there that are perfect for embellishments on your crafts!

I also added a note inside the card using a stamp from the Sizzix Framelits w/ Stamps Birthday, Hello & Thanks set. Depending on where you position this piece inside the card, you could also add a personal note.

So adorable! Love the way you created your own colored cardstock and inked up the embossing! I have used both of those techniques to create customized paper for my projects too.
