Hello, Friends! It's Monika here from Life With Lovebugs for today's Sizzix Inspiration. Last year I had a goal to get organized and I created a monthly calendar to hang in my kitchen so that we could keep track of activities and appointments. It was a blank calendar that I kept inside a frame and used a fine point Sharpie to write each month's activities on the glass. It's been working great, but the only drawback is that it's very plain and could use some updating.
I was so happy to discover the Sizzix Thinlits Die Set Calendar Months as the solution to my problem! Not only does the set have dies to cut the names for each month along with numbers, it also has themed dies that coincide with monthly holidays.
Since we are already in December I decided to start with January. I decided to decorate with snowflakes for Winter and use a variety of blues. In addition to the monthly calendar dies I also used Sizzix Thinlits Die Set Fancy Base w/Layering Shapes and Sizzix Thinlits Die Card Front, Arrows. All of these die sets are Thinlits so be sure to use your Magnetic Platform when cutting your pieces.
When you glue down the pieces, you just need to add a dab to hold them in place because they will be pressed flat under the glass. Once you're done place the calendar at top of the frame and add the monthly calendar below.
Place the glass into the frame. Now you can use a fine point Sharpie pen to write your appointments and events right onto the glass.
It won't smudge like a dry erase pen and can easily be removed with glass cleaner.
I think these die sets used together are the answer to my boring calendar. I like the way my January calendar turned out and can't wait to start the next month, I just might finish all 12 months before 2015 even begins!
