Sizzix Inspiration | Shaker Hearts Card by Hilary Kanwischer

Hey everyone, it's Hilary here today with some quick Sizzix Inspiration. I'm sharing a card today using the new Shape Strips Sizzix Thinlits by Tim Holtz along with a few others.  The Shape Strips set is so versatile, and as I was die cutting the heart strip, all those sweet little hearts kept pouring out, and my mind switched from a strip card, to a shaker card, (I simply had to use those little hearts).  I hope you enjoy!

To create this card, first emboss a white piece of cardstock using the Typewriter Embossing Folder and machine stitch it around your folder.

Your sandwich when embossing is as follows: Multipurpose Platform opened to tab 2, followed by a Cutting Pad, then your embossing folder with your white cardstock inside,  and topped with a second Cutting Pad.  Insert the sandwich through your Big Shot.

Machine stitch around edge.  Next using the "heart" strip of the Shapes Strip, die cut a few strips using red cardstock, until you have a small pile of hearts.

Your sandwich when die cuttingThinlits is as follows: Magnetic platform, Standard Cutting Pad, cardstock, Thinlits, (cutting side down), and another Standard Cutting Pad on top.  Run this sandwich through your Big Shot.

To create the shaker portion, I first created the "frame" portion.  To do this, start with white cardstock, and using the same cutting sandwich you would for cutting Thinlits, lay your white cardstock down and add a Squares Sizzix Framelits on top, then using a Squares, Scalloped Framelits, 2 sizes bigger, lay that on top of the square, making sure they are even, run them through your Big Shot.  Voila, you've created a frame.  Next, flip the frame over and apply a small bead of wet glue around the 'window' and adhere a small piece of transparency film over the top and press to secure.  Then using rolled foam tape, adhere tape around the frame completely.  Next, die cut a white cardstock Square and adhere it to the center of your card.  Lay hearts on top.  Then peel the paper off of the foam tape and lay the 'framed window' down on top.

To finish, die cut "XO" from Stacked Words, Valentines Decorative Strip die using glitter cardstock, using foam tape and adhere a corked heart with 2 teeny hearts.  Finally add big red bow to the top and adhere the card front a kraft cardstock base using 3-D glue dots.
