Hi everyone, Mou here with today's Sizzix tutorial! I'm making an Apron Gift Bag using Lori Whitlock's Apron die. This gift bag is such a neat idea for a hostess gift! You can also make one for Mother's Day or for a girl friend. It is quick and really easy to make with the Apron die. Let me show you how.
To die cut the pieces, lay the Sizzix Bigz XL Apron die blade-side up on an Extended Cutting Pad. Cut a 12 x 12 patterned paper in half. A patterned cardstock will work best as it will be strong enough to hold a gift in and still be easily foldable at the creases. Stack the two halves of the patterned paper on the Apron die and cover with the Extended Crease Pad. Because the Apron die is a steel rule die, it will easily cut through several layers of papers giving you multiples in just one pass. In this case, you'll need two of the Apron shapes (front & back) and two of the bottom/side pieces. Using the Extended Crease Pad will ensure crisp fold lines for easier assembly. Pass this Sizzix sandwich through the Sizzix Big Shot Machine.
Here are the die cut Apron pieces.
Snip off the side tabs from one of the side/bottom pieces with scissors.
Adhere the trimmed part of the side/bottom piece to its matching section between the uncut tabs of the other side/bottom piece. This will make one continuous side/bottom piece.
Attach the two Apron pieces to the long central part of the joint side/bottom piece from the previous step to make the front and back of the bag.
Add adhesive to the tabs and hold the pieces in place to finish assembling the Apron bag.
To make a pocket for the Apron bag, fold the tabs on the pocket piece. Cut a piece of lace trim for the length of the pocket. Attach to pocket with adhesive. Attach the pocket to the bag.
You can embellish and personalize the Apron at this point. I wrote 'Kiss the Cook!' on a strip of paper and attached it to the pocket. You can add a message to fit your gift-giving occasion or even add a monogram with any Sizzix alphabet die.
Insert a small piece of ribbon through one of the holes on one Apron piece. Tie a small knot to keep it in place. Pass the other end of the ribbon through the hole in the mitten piece and then through the other hole in the same Apron piece and tie off with another knot. Repeat with the back side to finish the bag. Next, wrap a small gift in tissue and place in the bag for someone you love!
Hope you enjoyed today's tutorial and would try out this fun Apron die for yourself!
