Hi everyone! Genevive here! I'm back with a project that's cute and fun yet inspirational for today's Sizzix Tutorial. How can it be? Read on!
Using the Sliced Bread Bigz die, I made a bread mini book that you can't eat but you will be full! It is a book of Bible scriptures, thus "Daily Bread" the title was actually an idea of my very good friend who was with me while I was making this mini album (thanks Mona! *she reads my posts*). Anyway, here's how I did it...
I always start the process by preparing my "kit". A collection of delicious stuff that consists of Sizzix dies, papers, a little bit of mediums.
When all the supplies are ready, it was time to cut. My "sandwich" was the Cutting Pad + Bread Album die + paper on top of the die + another Cutting Pad. This piece was intended for the cover so I cut 2 pieces.
Then I painted one side with gesso.
I painted it again this time with a thin application of a gold paint. When applied thinly, It looks like a glaze.
While letting the covers dry, I prepared the inside pages. To be able to make a mini album, I need to bind the book. Here's an easy way of doing that. First, I cut the papers into 9 x 4.5" then folded it in half and positioned the folded paper on top of the die like this:
Notice that the creased part of the paper is positioned slightly inside the shape. That part should not cut because...
The pages should look like this! It's now ready to be glued together to make a book!
To connect the pages, I glued the right side of the bread die cut to the left side of the next... and continued this step until I finish all the pages.
Then I glued the cover (that's now dry) to the bound bread book.
For the title, I used Homemade Alphabet Sizzix Thinlits die. And here's how I usually cut letters. I would cut small pieces of papers and place it on top of the letters I need. Here's the sandwich when cutting using Thinlits: Magnetic Platform + Cutting Pad + Homemade Alphabet Thinlits die + paper + Cutting Pad. this way, I will know how much of each letter I need to cut.. plus, it's one way of saving paper! :D
I then glued the letters to the "bread" and added dimension to it with glossy accents.
Look how simple but pretty. Yes? :) Okay now it's time to fill the pages!
I had fun cutting papers and journal cards and writing my favorite Bible verses.
I then filled the mini with these little cards, added some clips and peg here and there.
Then a white lace to tie around the album.
I hope you enjoyed my tutorial today! Until next! :)
Xoxo, Gen
