Hey everyone! Melissa here for today’s Sizzix Tutorial. With summer just around the corner, it's time to get those freezers stocked with ice cream! And what better accompaniment to your favorite flavors than some DIY cone wrappers. Using colored cardstock and your favorite Textured Impressions Embossing Folders, you can beautify your summer treats with very little effort!
To create the cones you see here, I used the Sizzix Brenda Pinnick Folksy Circle & Fun Embossing Folder, Sizzix Tim Holtz Waves & Bubbles Embossing Folder, Sizzix Lori Whitlock Quilted Diamonds Embossing Folder, and the Sizzix Framelits Circles.
After carefully untaping the generic paper wrappers that come on the Joy Classic Waffle Cones, I used it as a template to create the ice cream cone wrapper shape.
Once cut, I inserted each wrapper into a Textured Impression folder and then ran it through the Big Shot. When using embossing folders in the Sizzix Big Shot machine, open up your Multipurpose Platform to tab 1 and lay down one Standard Mint Cutting Pad. Lay your material inside of the embossing folder and close it. Place this on top of the first cutting pad and then place a second Standard Mint Cutting Pad on top. Roll this sandwich through your Big Shot.
Wrap each wrapper around the cone and use double sided tape to adhere shut. The trick with these is to be careful not to use too heavy of cardstock or else it will be too stiff to wrap around the cones and the tape will have trouble holding.
And there you have it! Some DIY ice cream cone wrappers that you can customize to your party's theme. Create little cone embellishments using triangle pieces of paper and circles made from the Sizzix Framelits Circles to top things off!
