Hey friends! Adrianne here with you today to share a fun project for Easter that you can actually rotate and change out as the seasons and holidays come and go. Mason jar crafts are so popular right now, and with a special adapter, you can easily turn one into a soap dispenser! Use your Sizzix machine to die-cut some vinyl, and you've got a great decor piece using your favorite Sizzix dies.
I wanted a simple and inexpensive soap pump for the kitchen, since Easter is coming in just a couple of weeks. The butterflies are so cheerful, and when Easter is over, I can decorate a new jar and make this project all over again.
The great thing about making a soap pump is that you need so few supplies! I used a couple of Sizzix Sizzlits Decorative strip dies designed by Tim Holtz - the Typeset Letters and Butterfly Frenzy- and some adhesive glitter vinyl to create this easy project. (See below for the full list of supplies.)
Conserve vinyl by cutting small squares just large enough for the letters you need. You can also use small squares on the butterfly die to get an assortment of colors. Place your vinyl upside down, so that your letters are die cut in the right direction.
Create your Sizzix "sandwich" by placing the Sizzlits die between Extended Cutting Pads. Roll it through your Big Shot on top of the extended platform, on the #1 tab.
Spell out your message, and arrange the butterflies on your pint-sized jar in a "trail" flying from the left, around the words and up to the right. Or - get creative, and arrange them however you like! Placing the vinyl is as easy as removing the backing like a sticker, and pressing it firmly to the smooth surface of the mason jar.
Finally, assemble your soap pump adapter. My kit was 3 pieces - the pump base is a screw-on piece that attaches to the pump and tube assembly, through the hole in the top of the adapter. It comes together in just seconds.
Then, just replace the ring and lid of the mason jar with the screw-on adapter. (See, I promised this one was easy!)
Fill it with liquid soap, and put it in your bathroom or kitchen to add a bit of seasonal cheer! The best part is that once you have the adapter, you can make new jars whenever you like.
Thanks for joining me today - I'll see you guys again soon!
