Sizzix Tutorial | Easter Treat Baskets by Melissa Fallon

Hey everyone! Melissa here for today’s Sizzix Tutorial on how to make little Easter treat baskets! It may be a little early to start thinking about the Easter Bunny, but if you're anything like me, I need a few weeks (or months) before any holiday to prep my craft materials. So we're going to jump the gun on this one so that you have plenty of time to snag these dies and get crafting! This Pocket, Cookie die from Where Women Cook was originally created to gift cookies, but I couldn't resist usingthe zig zag patterning to make little Easter baskets!

For this project, I used the Where Women Cook Pocket Cookie Sizzix Bigz L die for the basket & the Confetti Sizzix Decorative Strip Die from Tim Holtz to create the polka dots. Just two dies, some paper, and adhesive is all it takes! Oh, and cookies. We can't forget the cookies.

To make the Easter egg boxes, I used the Where Women Cook Pocket Cookie Sizzix Bigz L die and different colors of pastel colored cardstock. To create the sandwich, I layered a Standard Cutting Pad, the Pocket Cookie die, the paper, and then the Premium Crease Pad, Standard on top.

Once cut, I folded the box according to the crease lines and then applied tape to the side tabs to tape closed.

Once the baskets were assembled, I moved on to cutting out the polka dots. I created a sandwich of the Extended Multipurpose Platform (on Tab 1), a Decorative Strip Cutting Pad, the Confetti Sizzix Decorative Strip Die, and then another Decorative Strip Cutting Pad on top.

I cut out a thin strip of paper for the basket handle and taped it to the inside of each side. And then the last step was to add the polka dots I cut out in the previous step to create a little decorated Easter egg look!

You can fill these baskets with cookies, candy, or any other Easter treat your heart desires. If you are using something a little heavier than a couple cookies and want to be able to carry the baskets by the handle, you will just want to be sure to use a thick cardstock and heavy duty glue or tape!
