Sizzix Tutorial | Free to Fly Mini Album by Leica Forrest

Hello Sizzix peeps!

Leica here to bring a fresh, bright Springy mini album Sizzix tutorial to you.

First cut the mini album covers and inserts using Sizzix ScoreBoards XL Die Album, Mini. I like my mini albums to have stiff covers to make them more durable, so I cut a layer out of chipboard and of card stock. When cutting this die in the Big Shot all you need is a pair of Standard Cutting Pads. Make a sandwich with your die and paper between the cutting pads and roll them through your Sizzix Big Shot Machine.

Before I adhered the card stock to the chipboard I emboss the cover first using Sizzix Texture Fades Embossing Folders Rays & Retro Circles Set.  When I emboss the paper the same sandwiching applies for embossing folders, however, you would place the sandwich on top of the Extended Multipurpose Platform, open to tab 1. This is what it will look like when it comes out.

I inked the paper and then inked it with yellow Clearsnap Ink.

And bounded it together with a black string.

Next I cut a bird for my cover out of Sizzix Bigz Die Flying Bird. Again, since it was for the cover, I cut 2 pieces: 1 out of chipboard, 1 out of cardstock. I adhered them with Fabritak so that there was no chance of lifting.

When it comes to creating finishing touches after adhering the bird, grab a black Slick Writer and add doodling lines, eyelashes on the eye. It gives a more personal touch to the bird. I used a pearl for the eye. With the background being yellow and a blue bird, I continued with the primary colour them. It was easy and pleasing to the eye to add a red twine around the neck.

I decorated the neck with a Prima flower and rhinestone in the centre.

The red is such a bold touch, so it only made sense to use it again in the title. I cut the title out of the Core'dinations Colorcore Glitter Cardstock using the new Sizzix Bigz XL Alphabet Die Block Talk Lowercase.  I led up to the title using Sizzix Sizzlits Decorative Strip Die Tattered Banners. Once I cut them, I inked the edges and and then wrote the phrase.

Finishing touches are made by adding faux stitching around the edges.
