Hi there! It's Laura from Make Life Lovely, and I've got a fun Sizzix Tutorial for you today that involves one of my favorite places…. Starbucks!
Giving a Starbucks gift card is a great (and easy) gift that everyone loves, so I decided to create a cute gift card holder that looks just like a Starbucks cup! It was so easy with the Vintage Kitchen adorable Mug & Spoon SIzzix Bigz die from Eileen Hull.
First, I made a Sizzix sandwich with a Cutting Pad on the bottom, the Mug & Spoon die cutting side up, white Little Sizzles Mat Board, and then another Cutting Pad. I rolled it all through my Sizzix Big Shot, and then repeated, so that I had two mat board mugs.
Next I cut the handles off the mugs so that they look more like Starbucks cups.
To make my box, I used the new Make-It-3-D Sizzix Bigz die die by Eileen Hull that is just brilliant! Basically, you can turn almost any die cut into a 3-D box, which I love! There are 3 different pieces that you can die cut to make boxes. I chose to use the longest piece for mine, since it fit the die the best.
I scored along the lines of my mat board 3-D box piece, and cut off the two end pieces so that it would fit my cups perfectly. Then I glued down the tabs onto each Starbucks piece, one at a time, so that it formed a rectangular box that would hold the gift card.
Next I googled Starbucks logo, then printed a copy of the circular logo that was about 1.25" diameter.
I used the mug die again to die cut my Starbucks logo into a mug, making sure that the logo was centered on the die. Then I die cut using my Big Shot again, and glued my cardstock mug onto my mat board mug.
To finish off my gift card holder, I took some green paper shreds and added it to the inside of my gift card holder. Then I tucked my gift card inside.
There it the, the cutest little gift card holder, ready for gifting!
My daughter's friends LOVE getting (and receiving) Starbucks gift cards from each other, and I'm pretty sure this gift will be a hit!
I also tried out more of Eileen Hull's new Vintage Kitchen dies, and LOVE the Loaf Pan Sizzix Bigz die, too. Here's a quick little gift I made for my husband just because, and filled with candy. I love how you can make each project really feminine or masculine depending on the paper that you use.
Stay tuned for more projects with this fun new line!
