Hello crafties, Aida here back with a Layered Leaf Sizzix Tutorial.
In tropical Singapore it's hard to imagine Fall but that has not stopped me from loving all the Fall projects in online scrapbook galleries and Pinterest. Today I made a Layered Leaf panel and I hope this tutorial will inspire you to create one.
I used the Tim Holtz Layered Leaf Sizzix Bigz die with Texture Fades. Here are the close ups :
The latest product I am totally in love with is Gold Foil card stock as it's fabulous to use with Sizzix dies and embossing folders.
For this project I trimmed a piece at 5" x 5" and die cut the leaf in the center which means you can use the leftover shape for another card, nothing will be wasted!!
Here you can see how wonderful the Texture Fades looks on the Gold Foil card stock.
Next, die cut smaller leaves in Gold Foil and patterned papers with the Magnetic Movers and Shapers Mini Tattered Leaf Set with two cutting pads and the L Base Tray. Emboss only the Gold Foil leaf by placing it in the middle of the Texture Fades so you get as much of the design on the leaf. For embossing you will use the Extended Multipurpose Platform open to Tab 1, a cutting pad, the embossing folder closed with the material you're embossing inside and then the second cutting pad.
Staz On ink works really well with the Gold Foil as it remains translucent after application and the sheen of gold underneath will give you an amazing effect. The Staz On colors I used are Cactus Green and Pumpkin.
Die cut chipboard using the largest oval from the Movers and Shapers Magnetic die Sized Ovals with two cutting pads and the L Base Tray and spread a thin layer of Texture Paste on it.
Once the Texture Paste has dried, apply a light coat of Distress Antique Linen.
This burlap panel is 4 inches on the top and with the height of 4 1/2 inches. I painted it lightly with Distress Antique Linen and Mustard Seed.
Next I layered the leaves on the oval chipboard adding 3-D foam behind the leaves to create height.
Add twill trim to the burlap, and then the oval piece with the leaves on top. Knot a short length of twill and glue it to the leaves. I used an Idea-ology pin with the word Fall tied to it. To finish off, the burlap was mounted on a larger piece of chipboard covered with a vintage patterned paper.
This is an easy, inexpensive project to make for Fall and would be a welcome home decor gift for a crafty friend. I hope you enjoyed this tutorial and I look forward to you coming by again.
Beautiful leaves. I agree the gold foil paper is so pretty.
I love it!! I've been looking for the die/embossing set to no avail. I hope to adapt this technique to the other leaf dies I have from tim H. the colors are wonderful and your tutorial seem easy to follow. thank you!
This is gorgeous! I love anything with autumn leaves. And this is really stunning.
So beautiful!
Thank you Celeste !

Gorgeous, gorgeous - I too love the Autumn season - this card is absolutely stunning.
Gorgeous Aida. Love the leaf and I have it...now to track down some metallic foil and I can do this! Thanks for the inspiration!
Thank you Alison, good luck on tracking the Gold Foil card stock !
Beautiful! I'm all about the leaves this year. These are wonderful!
So glad you liked this, good luck with your own projects !
This technique knocked my socks off! Love it!!!! Here in the states we have a cardstock called Mirricard, in all sorts of colors. Do you know if this gold CS you used is the same as Mirricard?
Hi Nancy, the Gold Cardstock I used is by Pebbles Jen Hadfield, which has a sticky-back. Staz On Ink is great for any slick surface, so I would imagine Mirricard would be fine ? Thank you, so happy you like this project !
