Sizzix Tutorial | Love Postage Valentine by Melissa Phillips

Hi there!  Melissa Phillips here with you today sharing a fun, chalkboard-inspired Valentine card for this day's Sizzix Tutorial.  This look is so popular and trendy right now and is easy to replicate.

I began with a cardstock base, green in color.  Black or dark grey would work perfectly as well.  To die cut my base using the Movers & Shapers Postage Stamp Sizzix Die I sandwiched the die and my paper between one Standard Cutting Pad and one Premium Crease Pad and rolled it through my Sizzix Big Shot Machine. You can see the crease around the edge of the stamp which is why the Crease Pad is necessary. After die cutting my base I used the letters from Love Stamps and stamped them in the lower right corner of the card base using watermark ink.  Then I heat embossed the stamped letters using white embossing powder.

Next I used my cream ink pad, white will do as well, and used a paper towel, to smudge on the ink over and around the embossed letters.  This creates a chalky, chalkboard look :).

Using the flower dies from the Sizzix Framelits Die Set w/ Love Stamps, I cut flowers from felt and trim, and leaves from burlap. To die cut using Sizzix Framelits, you can use the Magnetic Platform. Lay your Sizzix Magnetic Platform in the Big Shot machine. Place one Standard Cutting Pad on top, then your material, your Framelits die and then your second Standard Cutting Pad. Then you'll roll that sandwich through the Big Shot to get your die-cuts.

I layered my flowers as shown, combining different colors of felt along with different sizes of flowers, a bit of trim in the middle, and sequins placed in the center.  These were all adhered to the left side of the card after tying a large bow from wide ribbon.

I used a chipboard heart I had on hand that matched my color scheme and attached a button to the center of my bow to add a few finishing touches to my card.

Lastly I simply adhered the finished postage die to a pink card base and added a bit of pink washi down the side.
