Hi everyone, Mou here today with a mini pocket book Sizzix Tutorial for you!
It's a new year and the time to start fresh again. It's also a great time to remember the simple things one more time. That' s what this mini pocket book is about -- simple reminders. Let me show you how it came together in steps.
Cut kraft cardstock (0r any color of cardstock you like). I am going to make six pockets, so I cut six pieces of 6" x 8" cardstock. I'm also going to need two flaps for the wrap around cover. For that I cut two more pieces of 6" x 8" cardstock. Lay the Pocket & Mini Album Sizzix Bigz XL die blade side up on an Extended Cutting Pad. Lay cardstock on the die and cover with an Extended Crease Pad. While the die cuts the shape, the crease pad will accentuate the fold lines for easier assembly. Pass the entire sandwich through Sizzix the Big Shot machine to get your first pieces. Repeat to cut the rest. Usually, I cut several layers of paper with my Bigz dies, but in this case, I die cut the pieces individually to get prominent crease lines on each.
To cut the title for the album, choose letters from the Alphanumeric Sizzix Thinlits die set. On the Magnetic Platform, lay a Standard Cutting Pad and the letter dies blade side up. Lay cardstock on the dies and cover with a second Standard Cutting Pad. Pass the sandwich through the Big Shot machine.
Now, you should have the above diecuts to make your pocket book.
To create the outside cover, attach the large flap of one cover piece to the bottom of the other cover piece. Fold along crease lines to make sure the end part of the top piece aligns with the top part of the bottom piece for neat closure.
To create the pockets, apply adhesive to the two similar tabs and fold them over. Fold the top sleeve over and press to attach with the rounded connector tab hanging loose.
Decorate the pockets. Apply a base coat of gesso and add colors with acrylic paint. Stamp near the bases of the pockets. Also, color the outside cover.
To attach the pockets together, fold the connecting tab of one pocket to the back of the next pocket.
Attach the stack of connected pockets to the cover by adhering the remaining connector tab to the cover flap.
Cut 3" x 4" pieces of white cardstock. Color them, write and doodle on them with your messages, photos, etc. Insert these cards into the pockets.
Attach a decorative brad at the center of the top flap. Cut about 24" of twine and wrap one end around the brad and tie a bead at the other end. Attach the title to the cover to finish. And your little pocket book is ready!
Hope you play with this fun Pocket & Mini Album die and explore its many creative possibilities!
