Hello, Sizzix friends! Vivian Keh here today to share with you a canvas that I've made just after a long and miserable case of the flu. It's titled, "A Door Opening," after a phrase from one of my favorite movies. This phrase is especially meaningful to me because it has so many layers of positive meaning - possibility, hope, courage, keeping one's heart open, unlocking beauty. And as I draft this post for you, I realize perhaps the reason this phrase has been on my mind today is that it kind of represents how it feels when good health returns and you are able to breathe freely again, as if you were opening a door to the great outdoors.
I have a video tutorial for this one, and I hope you'll take a break from your day to watch it!
Before I sign off, I'd like to share with you a few close ups of the beautiful Sizzix die cuts I used. This shot features the Passage Door Bigz Die from the Tim Holtz Alterations collection.
I love this die-cut - the die itself is inspiring me to craft a series of "door" canvases with various embellishments and color palettes. Below is a close up of these beautiful die-cuts from the Layered Leaf Bigz Die with Texture Fades Embossing Folder Set. I've seen many of my teammates often reaching for this one in their projects this autumn - the style lines are very dramatic, in my opinion.
The snowflake die cuts from the Paper Snowflakes Thinlits Set are highly intricate - they really harness the potential of die cutting, don't you agree?

Such a lovely piece, love the colours and your technique applying them, Thanks for your video, and glad you are feeling much better.
Vivian, that is gorgeous. I love how the black big brush marker really made the leaves jump off the canvas.
Beautiful! Loved watching you create this.
