Thanks for stopping by today. I cannot wait to show you my little Valentine's Owl. I just LOVE this little treat box. It is so universal. I can make it any theme I want, just by changing the colours. So this time I am making Valentine's ones. The kids are going to be excited. What do you need? Only 2 dies! The Sizzix Bigz XL Die Bag, Owl and also this flower die for an accent at the ears Sizzix Bigz Die Flower Layers w/Heart Petals
First start out cutting all the pieces.
When cutting this Bigz die in the Big Shot all you need is an Extended Cutting Pad and the Extended Premium Crease Pad. Make a sandwich with your die and cardboard between the cutting pads and roll them through your Sizzix Big Shot machine.
Here is the eye. I put all the little pieces on Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L Adhesive Sheets. They work so perfectly for little things.
Just start layering them.
I find that I like to decorate the owls BEFORE I assemble the treat box. It is kind of hard to decorate in the upright position.
So for this little owl I started by inking the edges of the inner owl piece.
Then I adhered it to the background owl.
Add little details like faux stitching. It gives a neat little finishing look.
Start layering the pieces, beginning with the bottom feather piece, which is also the smallest one.
Continue adding layers.
Then add the adorable nose. Sometimes I fold the nose in half then it stand up. You decide how 3D you would like it.
Put on your eyes.
Now let's start building!I decided to use a glue gun, just from previous experience. Sometimes when adhering around the curve, the adhesive slides off. With a glue gun, it stays attached immediately. Also, the benefit of instant attachment. Press on the edge of a table all the scored areas. This will make it easier to bend and glue.
I start by placing the glue on the owl part and moulding the sides to it. I find I have the most control this way. Do one side at a time.
If you want to detail the owl more, add a little flower as it gives it a girly touch. Love it! i wanted the flower to pop out, so I bent all the petals in, that way it stood up.
There you have an adorable little Valentine's treat owl. Fill it up with goodies!
Thanks for looking everyone! Hope you have fun creating your own owls, if you do, please share them in the comments! We LOVE seeing how we inspire you!!!
