Sizzix Tutorial | Pizzazzing Your Gift Box by Melissa Fallon

Hello everyone! Melissa here today for a Sizzix Tutorial with a fun way to add a little pizzazz to a boring white box! If you're anything like me, I'm always looking for ways to transform items to something new, and this box is here to do just that!

The materials I used for this project are simple and more importantly they were things I had around my craft room! I got this small white box at Michael's a while back and decided it was time to work some Sizzix magic on it!

To start off, I used the Big Pocket Die by Jillibean Soup™ to cut out the envelope that would top the box. To cut, I used the following Sizzix sandwich (from bottom to top): A cutting pad, the die with the cutting side up, the construction paper and then a crease pad.

Once cut, I folded the envelope according to the score lines and adhered the edges shut with double sided tape.

After assembling the envelope, it was time to add a little texture!

I created a sandwich of the Multipurpose Platform (on Tab 1), a cutting pad, the envelope inside the Houndstooth Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, and then another cutting pad on top. After running it through the Big Shot, I was utterly amazed at the textured beauty that awaited me! After adding texture to the envelope, I repeated the steps with the four square pieces of paper to create the four sides of the box. I did the Houndstooth Embossing folder on two of the sides and then the Dots Embossing Folder for the other two sides.

Next, I used the Bow Tie Decorative Strip die to create a construction paper bow to go on top of the box. I created a sandwich of the Multipurpose Platform (on Tab 1) by layering: a cutting pad, the Sizzlit die with the cutting side up, the paper, and then another cutting pad on top. I only used the large bow one for this project, and saved the other two for another time! Lastly, I tied a little gold string around the middle for some added glitz & glam.

I used double sided tape to adhere the four embossed papers to each side of the box. I then filled the box with candy, attached the envelope, and then added the bow on top! The envelope is the perfect size to slip in a little note or gift card and I couldn't be more obsessed with this envelope die. I've already used it on multiple projects and I can't wait to keep playing with it!

My favorite thing about this project is that it can be tailored to whatever boxes you have around the house! Add textured paper & a bow to old recycled boxes and you have an instant gift box that is not only cute, but functional as well!

Happy crafting! - Melissa
